Job Description

A Warehouse Worker/Dispatcher is an employee responsible for various tasks within a warehouse or distribution center. Their primary duties typically involve handling incoming and outgoing shipments, organizing inventory, and ensuring the efficient operation of warehouse processes. 

Job Responsibilities
  • Receiving: Accepting deliveries of goods from suppliers, checking shipments for accuracy, and verifying quantities and quality against packing slips or purchase orders.
  • Storing: Properly storing received items in designated warehouse locations, ensuring that inventory is organized, labeled, and easily accessible for retrieval.
  • Picking: Fulfilling customer orders by selecting the appropriate items from inventory shelves or storage areas based on order specifications or picking lists.
  • Packing: Packaging selected items securely and preparing them for shipment, including labeling packages with shipping information and ensuring that they are properly sealed and protected.
  • Shipping: Arranging for the shipment of packages using shipping carriers or logistics providers, generating shipping labels, and coordinating pickup or drop-off schedules.
  • Inventory Management: Conducting regular inventory counts, reconciling discrepancies, and updating inventory records in the warehouse management system to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Material Handling: Using equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, or conveyor belts to move and transport materials within the warehouse safely and efficiently.
  • Quality Control: Inspecting incoming and outgoing shipments for damage, defects, or discrepancies and reporting any issues to supervisors or quality control personnel.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, carrying, and moving heavy objects for extended periods.
  • Attention to Detail: Being meticulous in checking inventory, labeling packages, and ensuring accuracy in all tasks.
