About Washington Adult School

Washington Adult School, part of WUSD, has been offering programming to adults in the greater West Sacramento region since 1938. Adults 18 years of age and older return to Washington Adult School to complete their high school diploma or earn a high school equivalency (GED/Hi-SET), learn English, gain skills leading to US Citizenship, or to advance their skills and earn industry certification in high-demand, high skill, or high wage career fields.


Washington Adult School, also referred to as WAS. Academic programming is located primarily at the Yolo Education Center at 919 Westacre Road, West Sacramento and our Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Training program is located at 1290 Carrie Street, West Sacramento, CA 95605.

WAS currently offers English as a second language courses at Elkhorn Village K-8. WAS is a proud Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act partner and teams with multiple support agencies throughout Yolo County to provide wrap around support to students. We also are close partners with Sacramento City College and our local industry. Our goal is to help our students transition successfully to higher-level courses at college or to enter family-sustaining employment.
