The Public Relations Certificate will help students learn skills needed when working in the public relations field. The program requires the completion of 24 units, of which 18 units are required. An additional 6 units must be selected from the restricted electives below. A minimum grade of "C" is required for each course taken.

The Programming Skills Certificate requires the completion of 10 units in required classes listed below. offers a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental programming skills needed to succeed in today's job market. This certificate will provide students with the opportunity to learn Python programming, C++, and Java, three of the most popular programming languages in the industry. Upon completion of this certificate program, students will have the skills necessary to pursue a variety of entry-level, starting careers in the programming field. Potential careers include software developer, web developer, mobile applications developer, and game programmer. A grade of C or better is required in each course taken.

Program Level Student Learning Outcome:

The Programming Certificate is designed to prepare students for an entry-level job in the programming field. Students receive a grounding in a breadth of current programming languages and must select electives focusing on web programming, Java and mobile applications programming, database management, game programming or data analytics. A grade of C or better is required in each course taken. This certificate requires 17-21 units.

The Professional Photography Certificate is designed to prepare students for employment into a myriad of photographic industries. Course work provides a strong foundation in photography and offers both hands on training and experience. This certificate is designed to prepare the student for entry-level occupational positions into a variety of photographic industries such as studios, service bureaus, the wedding industry, public relations, and special events. All courses must be completed with a grade of C or better. This certificate requires a total of 18 units.

Program Student Learning Outcomes:

🗸 Demonstrate competence in operating medium and large digital format cameras and will be able to produce, analyze, and interpret digital files for accurate color reproduction and resolutions for digital printing systems for professional and commercial applications.

🗸 Demonstrate the ability to create original and professional quality images using a variety of lighting equipment that will produce analyzed effects and communicate specific perspectives of subjects or locations for professional and commercial applications.

The Product Development for the Apparel Industries Certificate is designed to prepare students to work in the fashion design or merchandising fields developing apparel designs and/or lines of apparel for specific target customers. This certificate requires a total of 33-37 units of which 29-31 units are in required courses. An additional 4-6 units must be chosen from the restricted units listed below.

The Printing Technology (General) Certificate is designed to provide the student with a basic overall understanding of the printing industry and its allied fields. Coursework in the Printing Technology Certificate program incorporates practical hands-on practice and classroom lectures. Students learn to set up and operate offset and digital printing presses and process print jobs. They also learn to create and print digital graphics, with programs like Adobe InDesign or similar often being covered. Students will learn about specialty printing as well, including flexography, package prototyping, and screen printing. This certificate requires a total of 26-31 units. A grade of C or better is required in each course taken.

Program Student Learning Outcomes:

🗸 Demonstrate proper operational skills required to operate a central impression flexographic printing press to produce single color labels.

🗸 Produce an offset printing plate produced to industry standards.

The Practical Politics Certificate is designed for students who intend to become political practitioners and to augment their background and skills through exposure to political science frameworks and concepts, with a focus on local campaign strategies, campaign management, data analysis, and messaging. Students are expected to sharpen the skills and understanding required of thoughtful and effective practitioners in elective and appointive public service. Instruction involves public speaking and communication skills; public relations and media relations; statistical analysis and understanding of polling data; GIS, mapping, and data analysis; and the practical skills of campaigns. The Practical Politics Certificate requires a total of 16-17 units.
