The Certificate of Achievement for Data Analytics is designed for students who have an interest in working with datasets, database systems, SQL(Structured Query Language), Pandas, Jupyter, and other related DA tools. The program is also tailored for working professionals who might want to change careers in BIG DATA or Data Analytics.

The certificate curriculum in computer science leads to entry-level employment in computer science, engineering and other areas where high aptitude in computer programming is recognized. The program prepares students for careers as engineering aides, scientific computing technicians and junior programmers. The program also prepares students to transfer to a university with a major in Computer Science.

Computer Information Systems (CIS) is a program for students interested in the application of computer hardware, and software to business. CIS courses prepare students for entry-level positions in information technology, networking, web and application development, networking, or database administration. These courses may be used for job advancement, an associate degree or certificate of achievement, or transfer to a four-year institution. CIS courses cover major programming languages (Visual BASIC, C++, Java) as well as software used in business for database management, spreadsheets, and networking. Students intending to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems should consult the major requirements for upper-division standing listed under the Business Administration major at the school of their choice.

This Advanced Study in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certificate program has two options:

Option A: This option is intended for undergraduates who want preparation for teaching ESL students (in the U.S. or abroad).
Option B: This option is intended primarily for graduate (see English graduate page) students who want to pursue an MA in English or another field, but also want to be prepared to teach ESL writing at the college level.

The "Teaching Composition Certificate" is designed for individuals who seek formal recognition for completing an organized, integrated, specialized program of study:  teaching composition.  This certificate is recommended for those students preparing to teach writing at the community college level or for high school teachers seeking to update their knowledge of composition theory and practice,  Upon successful completion of the designated course of study, a certificate will be awarded. 

The Professional Writing Certificate prepares students to communicate as rhetorically effective and ethical writers in diverse workplace contexts. Students learn the theories that inform professional writing and gain hands-on experience by producing a variety of professional documents and completing an internship. Professional writing takes place within organizational and/or institutional contexts and includes workplace genres such as reports, correspondence, manuals, employment documents, grants, etc. Given the contexts in which professional writing takes place, there is a strong emphasis on writing in digital environments and using data effectively.

The Ethnic Studies for Educators Foundations Certificate prepares students to utilize the core concepts, frameworks, and pedagogies of Ethnic Studies for application in K-12 classes with a focus on grades 9-12. Through an experiential and supportive learning environment with discipline experts, students apply the knowledge acquired throughout the certificate program and gain valuable practice teaching Ethnic Studies. In the culminating capstone course, graduates create their own Ethnic Studies course complete with content, lesson plans, and assessments. The Ethnic Studies for Educators Foundations Certificate program is designed to meet the growing needs of pre-service and in-service high school teachers who will be required to teach Ethnic Studies as a result of the new California high school Ethnic Studies graduation requirement. This certificate requires a total of 15 units. A grade of C or better is required for each course taken.

The Ethnic Studies for Educators Discipline Emphasis Certificate is available to students who are working on or who have been awarded the Ethnic Studies for Educators Foundations certificate and would like to extend their learning by developing proficiency in a selected ethnic studies discipline. The Ethnic Studies for Educators certificate programs are designed to meet the growing needs of pre-service and in-service high school teachers who will be required to teach Ethnic Studies as a result of the new California high school Ethnic Studies graduation requirement. This certificate requires a total of 9 units. A grade of C or better is required for each course taken. Students must complete the Foundations Certificate prior to or simultaneously with the Discipline Emphasis Certificate.

The ESL Milestone Certificate of Achievement: Pathway to Transfer - Written and Oral Communication is designed to prepare English Language Learners (ELLs) for the academic rigor of degree-applicable coursework in various Guided Pathways Meta Majors. Students completing the Pathway to Transfer Milestone Certificate will have achieved a mastery of academic English reading, writing, critical thinking, and oral skills sufficient to succeed in any professional, undergraduate, or graduate level setting where English is the dominant language. This certificate recognizes a significant milestone along the pathway to completing a professional certificate, Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree, and/or transfer to a university. This certificate requires a total of 17-18 units. A grade of C or better or Pass is required in each course taken.

The ESL Certificate of Proficiency in Academic English provides students, prospective employers, and others with documented evidence of persistence and academic accomplishment in English as a Second Language. The certificate program recognizes attainment of English language abilities to a proficient level in listening, speaking, reading, and writing used in academic courses at the community college level as well as in the workplace community. This certificate requires a total of 13-15 units. A grade of C or better or Pass is required in each course taken.
