The Healthcare Interpreter program provides training for bilingual individuals to provide effective healthcare interpreting services. The Administration of Justice: Level II Corrections Certificate of Achievement program prepares students to enter the workforce as corrections officers in the field of institutional and community based corrections of adult and juvenile offenders. Students will learn basic supervision, control and incident report writing skills to prepare them for common duties and challenges of correctional officers at detention centers and in community service.

Program Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:

- Understand how organizations maintain security of a detention facility, staff and inmates.

- Identify the functional differences between jails and prisons.

- Identify common disruptive incidents and write a basic incident report.

- Understand and analyze the primary functions, procedures and financial value of community corrections, to wit: probation and parole.

Fire protection is a highly specialized professional field, requiring extensive knowledge and use of scientific principles. The Fire Technology Certificate of Achievement program teaches the successful application of the fundamental principles of fire protection including suppression of fires, rescue, emergency medical services, hazardous materials mitigation, disaster response/recovery, community risk reduction strategies, pre-planning for fire protection, and long-term community preparedness. Designed for direct job entry and promotional advancement, this program provides technical knowledge and the ability to work within an organized system at a fire or other emergency scene. While units in the program are transferable to many institutions, students should consult a counselor for information.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Fire Technology career opportunities may include entry-level firefighters, first-line supervisors of firefighting and prevention workers, fire inspectors, and fire investigators and promotional advancement for members currently employed in the profession.

The Administration of Justice - Law Enforcement Certificate of Achievement provides all academic and physical skill training and assessment required by the State of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. It is required training for anyone serving as a peace officer in the state of California. The program provides the opportunity to observe, develop and employ the behavior traits of a professional peace officer in a controlled setting.

Program Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:

- Demonstrate required broad knowledge and skills, including critical thinking and problem solving skills, applicable to the field.

- Articulate the system’s objectives, the crime problem, and role expectations of criminal justice personnel, and describe the various agencies and each subsystem within the system.
