The Health and Human Services Department offers a human services program that prepares the student with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for the human services profession. The human services profession is dedicated to providing services to individuals and families in need of assistance and to enhance the quality of life for those served. Applicable health and human services courses meet the education requirements and standards set forth by the State of California. They prepare students to qualify and test for alcohol and drug counselor certification by the California Association of Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CAADAC). All coursework must be completed with a grade of C or better. Students who wish to earn an A.A. degree in Health and Human Services may do so by completing additional general education requirements.
A certificate of accomplishment may be earned by completing all the courses required for this major with a grade of C or better.
Program Learning Outcomes:
Students who complete the program will be able to:
- Take one of the appropriate local and national board examinations for licensure and certification as a registered specialist respectively.
- Obtain employment as a professional or continue their education, training or experience.
- Possess the entry level knowledge and skills required for employment.
