Certificate of Achievement in Bilingual Spanish English Teaching
Cabrillo College
Aptos, CA
The Bilingual Spanish English Teaching Certificate of Achievement provides the early childhood education (ECE) student with a course of study exploring curriculum and environment development to promote dual language learning for children whose home language is either Spanish or English. Curriculum and environment design integrate developmental principles, cultural and linguistic competency, anti-bias/anti-racist/social justice principles, and respectful relationships.
Note: the Cabrillo College ECE department is part of the California Early Childhood Curriculum Alignment Project (CAP) which supports transfer and consistent curriculum in the preparation of early childhood education students. The following eight courses in the Early Childhood Education Associate in Science for Transfer support early care and education teacher preparation: ECE31, ECE32, ECE34, ECE51, ECE52, ECE53, ECE54, and ECE59. These 24 unit lower-division courses in the program of study represent evidence-based coursework that is the foundational core for all early care and education professionals.
