The Certificate of Achievement in “Digital Illustration” is designed to provide the necessary creative and technical skills for students interested in the field of digital illustration. Students in the program will develop an ability to conceptualize, create and critique various graphic solutions. They will build a strong technical background and an ability to work with industry-standard vector, bitmap and 3D graphic software. Graduates will leave the program with an understanding of available career pathways as well as the skills, experience and portfolio necessary to enter the workforce. The program prepares students to work as self-employed independent contractors, fine artists, or within a company, e.g. as graphic artists, technical illustrators and graphic designers. Though this certificate is designed as a standalone program it is also an excellent complement to other related programs including Graphic Design, Web Design, User Experience Design, Game Design, and Fine Art. The program is designed so that students completing the program will have the technical skills, creative skills, and communication skills required for a career in digital illustration.
Career/Transfer Opportunities: This program will prepare creative individuals with many career opportunities related to Art, Design, Illustration, Multimedia and Animation. Some specific examples of related job titles: Artist (graphic artist, technical artist, commercial artist, production artist, fine artist etc.) Illustrator (technical illustrator, commercial illustrator, graphic illustrator, etc.) Designers (graphic designer, multimedia designer, animation designer, etc.) The program is also designed to complement other existing programs, such as the Graphic Design, Web Design, User Experience Design and Fine Art.
