The Certificate of Achievement in Entertainment Design and Technology: Lighting Design prepares students for jobs in the exciting world of stage and video lighting in the entertainment industry. Students completing this certificate will learn professional industry standards in the areas of lighting design, stage electrics, rigging, and intelligent and conventional lighting programming. Completion of this certificate will qualify students to move directly into the workforce as skilled technicians for theme parks, motion pictures, concerts, theatres, conventions, and live event industries.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Show a basic knowledge of intelligent lighting fixtures and their addressing and operation features as well as the ability to program them using intelligent lighting consoles.
- Demonstrate the ability to program lighting control consoles to create dynamic and subtle lighting environments using color, texture, form, and movement.
- Show the practical ability to hang, cable, circuit, and focus conventional lighting fixtures.
- Design a lighting plot with a cue system that shows an understanding of how light is used to help create a narrative to tell the story of a theatrical work or event.
