Sacramento City College maintains a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved two-year certificate and degree program organized to train students as Airfram and Powerplant Maintenance Technicians. The program is designed to meet the needs of students who desire technical training to qualify for the Federal Aviation Administration tests.


The Aircraft Maintenance Technician Program (ATMP) is governed by regulations established by the Federal Aviation Administration. This FAA approved program fulfills all of the requirements under the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 14, Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) part 147. Completion of this program will allow the graduate to test for the FAA Powerplant (P) Mechanic Certificate.


Upon successful completion of the oral, practical and written examinations, the graduate will be certified to work on aircraft as a technician and to supervise the work of others on such craft.

Ironworker technicians are in high demand. The ironworkers industry is not able to hire the amount of certified employees needed to fill the workforce and meet the needs of the industry. Students that are in this apprenticeship program are currently working in the ironworkers industry.
