The Game Audio Production Certificate of Completion is a noncredit certificate designed to introduce techniques of audio production for video games, including creating sound effects, ambiences, and dialog as well as integrating these into a game using audio middleware. Advances students to be able to create adaptive music, interactive mixing, and integrate these into a game using audio middleware. The certificate prepares students for job opportunities in Audio/Sound Design and Technical Sound Design. May be offered in a distance-learning format.

The Game Audio Production Certificate of Achievement is designed for students who would like to learn audio and music production techniques for interactive video games. Students will create sound effects, ambiences, dialog, and music to integrate into a game using adaptive mixing techniques via audio middleware. The certificate will lay foundational skills for composing music for video games. Students will learn how to create vertical (layers) and horizontal (switches) interactive music. Students will also take a course in electronic music composition and performance as well as digital music production, where they will compose music. This certificate provides the foundation to join the workforce in jobs such as sound designer, audio designer, technical sound designer, composer, or to continue to an associate’s degree.

The Digital Music Production Certificate of Completion is a noncredit certificate designed to introduce students to a wide array of digital music production techniques. Students will be introduced to music production workflows using a digital audio workstation and concepts including sequencing, sampling, music synthesis, creative use of effects, mixing techniques, electronic music composition, and live performance using controllers.

Upon completion of the certificate, students will have gained skills in music production, beat-making, electronic music production, and live performance and will be able to enter into the field in roles such as music producer, production assistant, or music artist.

✔ Produce music with a digital audio workstation demonstrating an understanding of MIDI sequencing and editing, using virtual instruments, automation, and audio and MIDI effects.

The Digital Music Production Certificate of Achievement is designed for students who would like to learn to produce music professionally using a digital audio workstation (DAW). Students will learn music production skills such as: sequencing, working with virtual instruments, synthesis, sampling, using effects, creating sound design, writing to picture, using controllers, composing, arranging, editing, and mixing. The program focuses on hands-on learning in Cabrillo’s music technology studios and labs alongside lecture courses. This certificate provides the foundation to join the workforce in entry level jobs such as music producer, production assistant, music licensing, commercial music production, or to continue to an associate’s degree.

The Audio Recording and Mixing Certificate of Completion is a noncredit certificate designed to introduce students to audio recording and mixing techniques. Students will be introduced to and work with analog and digital audio theory, microphones, equalizers, effects, and editing and mixing techniques using both analog studio equipment and a digital audio workstation. Upon completion of the program students will have gained skills in audio engineering, audio post-production, audio editing, audio recording, and audio mixing and will be employable in fields such as audio mixer, audio engineer, audio editor, or sound technician.

The Audio Recording and Mixing Certificate of Achievement is designed for students who would like to pursue careers in audio production, engineering, studio recording, live sound, editing, mixing, and/or mastering. The program focuses on hands-on experience learning digital and analog workflows in Cabrillo’s music technology studios and labs alongside lecture courses. This certificate provides the foundation to join the workforce in entry level jobs such as audio recording engineer, audio editor, audio mixing engineer, live sound engineer, audio producer, or to continue to an associate’s degree.

✔ Create audio recordings, mixes, and projects that demonstrate knowledge of audio theory, digital audio, effects plug-ins, signal flow, audio editing, sound mixing, and mastering.

The Phlebotomy Technician Certificate of Achievement prepares students to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT1). Students will learn the appropriate technique for venipuncture, arterial blood draw, and specimen collection in settings such as hospitals and out-patient clinics. Upon completion, students are eligible to register and take the required National Phlebotomy Certification Examination. Students who complete this certificate and pass the required exam will then be credentialed as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT1). This certificate provides students a way to join the workforce as a CPT1, suitable to work in hospitals, clinics, or home health environments.

The Medical Assisting Clinical Exam Preparation Certificate of Completion is a noncredit certificate designed to prepare students to take the general and clinical section of a medical assisting exam such as Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Medical Administrative Specialist (CMAS) or the California Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA). Course includes review, study and practice exams covering: medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, human development, professional relations, health care law, health care ethics, diagnostic and treatment services, surgical care, pharmacology and drug therapy, first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, clinical laboratory science, and nutrition and diet therapy. Upon completion, students can apply and upskill for jobs such as clinical medical assistants or professional healthcare technicians. May be offered in a distance-learning format.

Courses includes review, study and practice exams covering: medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, human development, professional relations, health care law, health care ethics, information and front office management, financial and insurance claims management, and facilities and operations management. Upon completion, students can apply and upskill for jobs such as administrative medical assistants, medical office secretaries or professional healthcare representatives. May be offered in distance-learning format.

The Coaching Certificate of Achievement is for students who would like to build a foundation and understanding of coaching practices and techniques. This certificate is designed to provide a foundation for students aspiring to enter the workforce as coaches in entry level jobs at the college, high school, junior high school, middle school, elementary school, and/or community youth organizations (such as little league) or to continue to an associate’s degree. Students will learn the development of comprehensive, progressive practice plans such as warm-ups, skill building fundamentals for individual athletes and the team, leadership, and management. The certificate emphasizes an introduction to kinesiology, theories and techniques of coaching, introduction to athletic training, first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and communication. Electives will help guide students in their particular area of interest and include courses in team sports, individual sports, dance, and adaptive physical education.
