Photography Associate in Arts Degree

The Photography Associate in Arts Degree is designed to provide students with both theory and practicum teaching that is intended to provide students with a comprehensive photographic foundation. The program offers students hands-on teaching in real world scenarios that provides the experience students need to work in a multitude of industries that utilize photography. Students can work as freelance photographers and/or as staff in a myriad of industries, such as entertainment, advertising, product marketing, ecommerce, aerospace, and special events. This degree prepares student for both transfer to a four-year degree program and for entry-level positions into photographic industries. All courses must be completed with a grade of C or better. This degree requires a total of 18 units.

Philosophy Associate in Arts Degree

The Philosophy Associate in Arts Degree includes the development of critical thinking and writing skills; the investigation of conceptual problems encountered in the course of reflecting about experience; the assessment of assumptions underlying other sciences and arts; and the exploration of intellectual and cultural history from a broad perspective. Majoring or minoring in philosophy is an excellent way of preparing for law school and other careers that involve facility in reasoning, analysis and information processing. This degree requires a total of 18 units in addition to other graduation requirements.


Program Student Learning Outcomes:

๐Ÿ—ธ Identify and explain major philosophical terms and concepts by being able to employ terminology used in philosophical arguments in order to understand the enduring questions in philosophy.

๐Ÿ—ธ Compare and contrast the principles of at least two of the following ethical approaches: Utilitarianism, Kantian ethics, Natural law, Virtue ethics, Feminist ethics. In doing so, the context of works and movements to the various author\s' philosophies should be articulated.

๐Ÿ—ธ Evaluate patterns of deductive and inductive reasoning through summary and analysis of complex arguments while relating them to their own experience.

๐Ÿ—ธ Compare and contrast the epistemological and metaphysical systems of Plato, Aristotle, and at least one medieval philosopher in order to demonstrate competency in relating a philosopher's ideas to the history of philosophy.

๐Ÿ—ธ Compare and contrast the epistemological systems of Rationalism, Empiricism, Kantianism, and at least one nineteenth century and one contemporary philosopher while making connections between a philosopher's views and the influence of culture on these views. Associate in Science Degree in Paralegal Studies

The Paralegal Studies Associate in Science Degree is designed to prepare students for employment in a paraprofessional capacity as an assistant to an attorney in private practice, in a governmental agency, or in private industry. Paralegals may perform many tasks under the supervision of a licensed attorney, including: preparing forms and pleadings; interviewing clients; researching and writing legal documents; managing a law office; and engaging in court filings, billing, or other litigation activities. This program is not intended to prepare students for the practice of law. The Paralegal Studies program is approved by the American Bar Association (ABA). A minimum grade of C is required in each course taken. This program requires the completion of its own unique General Education pattern that is ABA-approved. Students must take at least nine (9) semester credits, or the equivalent, of legal specialty courses through synchronous instruction. This degree requires a total of 30 units, in the major in addition to other graduation requirements. Students who wish to transfer course work from another ABA-approved program may be able to transfer up to six (6) restricted elective units provided the course is the same as a course offered in the Fullerton College Paralegal Studies Program and awards exactly the same number of units.

Studio Arts Associate in Arts Degree for Transfer

The Associate in Arts in Studio Arts for Transfer (AA-T), also called the Studio Arts AA-T Degree, prepares students to transfer to CSU campuses that offer bachelor's degrees in Studio Art. Students earning the Studio Arts AA-T will be granted priority for admission as a Studio Arts major to a local CSU, as determined by the CSU campus to which the student applies. This degree requires students to complete 60 CSU transferable units including completion of CSU GE or IGETC and 24 units in the major with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better. Title 5 requires that students earn a grade of C or better in all major coursework. There are no additional graduation requirements. This degree is designed to prepare students to understand and appreciate various art forms and art media, and guide them in choosing an appropriate path for them to follow for the demonstration of their creativity. While a baccalaureate degree is recommended for a possible career in gallery and museum presentation, Art Criticism, Commercial Art, Art Education, and many other Art-related careers, completion of this curriculum will demonstrate commitment to the serious study of Art in practice and in theory, and provide comprehensive preparation for upper-division work. The Studio Arts AA-T Degree program requires 24 total units of which 12 units are in required core courses. In addition, a total of 12 units are required from a list of restricted electives: 3 units in restricted electives required in Art History, and 9 units from a list of Studio Arts restricted elective courses. The Studio Arts AA-T Degree requires 24 total units, in addition to other graduation requirements.

The associate degree of science curriculum for medical assistant administrative/clinical is designed to prepare a student for employment in a medical office, hospital business office, ambulatory clinic, or allied health facility. Allied health careers for medical assistants function in the front and back office, as health insurance specialists, admission representatives, medical records specialists and receptionists in all medical facilities. Course content includes medical terminology; medical data entry, computer skills; medical documents, electronic health records, reports and charts; medical insurance and coding, billing and collections, bookkeeping; effective human relations and communication as related to a medical office; clinical procedures such as medical and surgical asepsis, measuring vital signs, documenting health histories, medication administration, sterilizing instruments, assisting with minor surgery, instrument identification; laboratory procedures; and professional ethics, legal and scope of practice.
