The Associate in Science in Business Administration for Transfer (AST) prepares students to move into a curriculum at a four-year institution leading to a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration. Please consult a counselor regarding specific course requirements for your transfer institution. Completion of the AS-T degree also provides guaranteed admission with junior status to the CSU system, although does not guarantee admission to a specific campus or major.


Upon completion of the AS-T degree in Business Administration, students will have a general understanding of business fundamentals, including the areas of accounting, economics, and computer information systems. In addition, they will have an understanding of the legal environment of business, and will have a sufficient understanding of mathematical concepts to enable them to successfully pursue a business degree at a four-year institution.

Child Development and Educational Studies Associate in Arts Degree

The Child Development and Educational Studies Associate in Arts Degree (CDES AA) prepares students for employment as teachers or teacher's assistants in private preschools or children’s centers. This degree also prepares students majoring in CDES for transfer to a four-year institution. The CDES AA degree, in conjunction with CDES 225 F: Early Childhood Student Teaching Practicum, and the required minimum number of hours of field experience will meet the Title V Child Development Teacher Permit requirement. In many of the courses included in the CDES AA degree, student's study, observe and learn utilizing the Child Development Laboratory Instructional Classrooms. A minimum grade of C is required in each course taken. The Child Development and Educational Studies Associate in Arts Degree includes 21 units.

Chemistry Associate in Science Degree for UC Transfer

The Chemistry Associate in Science Degree for UC Transfer, also known as the Chemistry AS-UCT, prepares students for transfer to UC campuses that offer bachelor's degrees in chemistry. This program aligns with the UC Transfer Pathway (UCTP). The Chemistry AS-UCT introduces students to general and organic chemistry as well as allied coursework in both physics and mathematics, preparing students for further study in the discipline of chemistry. Coursework in the discipline of chemistry includes instruction in molecular-level interpretations regarding the properties and reactions of inorganic and organic substances. Students with a degree in chemistry may pursue careers in government agencies or various areas of industry, including environmental, pharmaceutical, and material chemistry. Students completing this degree are guaranteed admission to the UC system, but not necessarily to a particular UC campus or major of their choice. This degree requires the completion of 47-48 units in the major, 20 units of Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC), and a minimum of 60 semester units with an overall grade point average of at least 2.0, where a higher grade point average is expected to remain competitive for admission to the UC system. Furthermore, students must achieve a cumulative minimum grade point average of 3.5 in the major for guaranteed transfer to the UC system.

The Chemistry Associate in Science Degree for Transfer, also called the Chemistry AS-T Degree, prepares students to transfer to CSU campuses that offer bachelor's degrees in chemistry. Ed Code Section 66746-66749 states students earning the Chemistry AS-T degree will be granted priority for admission as a Chemistry major to a local CSU, as determined by the CSU campus to which the student applies. The Chemistry AS-T introduces students to general and organic chemistry, preparing students for further study in the discipline of chemistry. Coursework includes instruction in molecular-level interpretations regarding the properties and reactions of inorganic and organic substances. Students with a degree in chemistry may pursue careers in government agencies or various areas of industry, including environmental, pharmaceutical, and material chemistry. The Chemistry AS-T Degree requires a total of 36 units of required courses as indicated below. The following is required for all AA-T or AS-T degrees, and there are no additional graduation requirements: (1) Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units that are eligible for transfer to the California State University, including both of the following: (a) The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or the California State University General Education – Breadth Requirements. (b) A minimum of 18 semester units or 27 quarter units in a major or area of emphasis, as determined by the community college district. (2) Obtainment of a minimum grade point average of 2.0. (3) ADTs also require that students must earn a C or better in all courses required for the major or area of emphasis. A “P” (Pass) grade is an acceptable grade for courses in the major only if the P is defined to be equivalent to a C or better.
