The Small Business Bookkeeping Certificate prepares students to (1) manage the accounting needs of a small business using Quickbooks accounting software, and (2) succeed in an entry-level bookkeeping position in the private sector areas such as a small business, financial service, wholesale or retail business or self-employment opportunities. Students are exposed to theoretical and practical knowledge on introductory financial accounting focusing on the key functional areas of accounting and prudent financial management. A minimum grade of C is required in each course taken. This certificate requires 16-21 units.

🗸 Demonstrate an understanding of AICPA's Financial Reporting Framework for Small- and Medium-Sized Entities to record accounting transactions and prepare financial statements.

The certificate in small business management is designed to prepare students for owning or operating a small business or organization. The core of the certificate provides the student with planning, organizing, leading and controlling skills, and theory including communicating, decision making, organizing, motivating, and human relations. The certificate program provides practical business management skills for the student.

🗸 The student will gain the knowledge and skills needed to have a successful career as a small business owner.

The Human Resources Management Certificate is designed to prepare students for human resources management positions in business, government, and other organizations; to aid existing managers in upgrading human resource management skills; and to assist employees for promotion to management/supervision positions. The certificate program provides the student with practical managerial skills and theory.

🗸 The student will gain the practical and theoretical skills for a successful career in the area of human resources management.

The program is approved by the Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC), and persons completing the prescribed courses are eligible to receive both the ECC Certificate of Competence and the WAFC Retail Management Certificate. The WAFC Retail Management Certificate is a specially recognized program designed to prepare individuals for the fast-paced retail industry. This program is also intended to help students develop an understanding of the retail manager’s job and the requirements for success in the retail environment.

The Screen Printing Certificate is designed to provide students with the skills needed to enter the screen-printing industry. Students will learn how to screen print on various substrates, including textiles, paper and other specialty substrates. This certificate requires the completion of 24-26 units, of which 12 are in required courses. An additional 12-14 units must be chosen from the restricted electives listed below. A minimum grade of C is required in each course taken.

🗸 Apply terminology of screen printing and produce various single and multi-color prints at industry standards using a screen printing press.

The certificate curriculum in management is designed to prepare students for various management positions in business, government, and public organizations; to aid existing managers in upgrading their skills; and to assist employees for promotion to management/supervision positions. The core courses provide students with managerial skills and theory including communicating, decision-making, organizing, motivating, and human relations. The student can gain practical skills in a specific area by specializing in human resource management, supervision, or small business management.

The Scenic Artist Certificate is designed to prepare the student for occupational competency as a Scenic Artist in educational, community and resident theatre venues as well as theme parks, television and motion picture studios. This certificate program requires a total of 31 units of which 21 units required and 4 units required lab courses. All courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or better.

🗸 Develop, design, and explain scenic finishes with the production team for the purpose of adhering to a unified artistic vision.

🗸 Research, analyze, interpret, communicate and apply historical styles in order and texture to successfully recreate a scenic effect.

🗸 Analyze and apply the relationship of pigment color to lighting, costuming and scenery for the purpose of deleting appropriate paints and materials needed for various scenic finishes.

🗸 Demonstrate a working knowledge and terminology for the safe operation of scenic painting tools and equipment.

The Retail Management Certificate will prepare students to earn supervisory positions in retail. Beginning as a clerk or cashier, the student can advance to assistant manager, manager, and upper management. A minimum grade of C is required in each course. This certificate requires 18-19 units.

The Residential Interior Design Certificate (formerly Residential Design Certificate) is designed to prepare the student for an entry level position within a residential interior design establishment. In addition, the student will qualify to take the IDEX (Interior Design Examination) administered by the California Council for Interior Design Certification (CCIDC) leading to the professional designation of Certified Interior Designer in the State of California. This certificate option requires the completion of the Interior Design Assistant Certificate and additionally provides advanced courses in interior design. This certificate requires a total of 50-54 units. A minimum grade of C is required for all courses.

🗸 Identify and understand the sequential Interior Design Process from discovery to post evaluation of a residential interior design project.

🗸 Produce and demonstrate comprehensive solutions to advanced residential interior design projects.

The Research Fundamentals Skills Certificate emphasizes the skills needed to interpret research data and conduct basic research in accordance with the procedures and methods of social/behavioral science. The certificate is designed for students interested in learning research skills and for those who need assistance in improving these skills for academic and/or career advancement. This certificate requires a total of 11-12 units. A grade of C or better is required in each class taken.
