Civil computer aided design (CAD) is a rapidly growing segment of the technical job market. This certificate of proficiency is designed specifically to meet the needs of students wishing to transfer to a university civil or environmental engineering program or build a career in the lucrative civil computer-aided drafting field. The civil computer aided design certificate of proficiency is designed to give students a basic understanding of the terminology, methods, and analytical techniques which are required to accurately analyze survey data, model topography in 3D, edit and design civil structures, and draft architectural site plans. Specific skills will include the ability to import and export raw topographic data, construct, or import architectural objects, model 3D surfaces, add parcels and other basic land development features to terrain, and drafting working sets of drawings to industry standards in both 2D and 3D format.

🗸 Students will be prepared to for employment in the civil CAD field and display standard working knowledge of terms and practices which are employed in the civil project management and drafting fields.

🗸 Successful completion of certification exams for specific software platforms used in courses which require knowledge of civil engineering and land management practices.

The Digital Media Art program prepares students with a strong foundation in digital creative content for art and design. The program begins with design fundamentals where students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a project-based curriculum. The courses in the program provide a hands-on experience for students to develop an understanding of the creative process. Students are encouraged to take a diverse range of Digital Media Art courses including digital photography, graphic design, motion design, and video production classes. All Digital Media Art courses require students to develop a professional portfolio for entry-level positions in the creative industry.

This program is occupational in nature; the courses in the major are not currently transferable to CSU or UC. Students should consult with their counselors or the Transfer Center to determine the extent to which courses may apply to programs at other four-year institutions.

This Certificate of Specialization certifies mastery of skills necessary or Pipe Levels I and/or II.

Program Outcomes

✓ Acquire the necessary skills training for proficiency in taking a welding qualification test for certification which may be required for employment.

✓ Improve or develop additional proficiencies required for professional growth or advancement in their current employment.

The Pilates Mat Instructor Certificate of Achievement prepares students to teach Mat work in a privately owned dance, fitness, Yoga or Pilates studio, physical therapy clinic, recreational facility, or health club. Courses taught by Pilates certified specialists cover the theory and technique surrounding this movement system invented by Joseph Pilates. Students will learn methods to design appropriate conditioning programs for themselves and people of all ages and physical conditions. Students are encouraged to also continue their training and complete the Comprehensive Pilates Instructor Certificate.

To prepare students for employment, classroom work is utilized in a variety of instructional methods (lecture, lab/demonstration, independent and group projects) as well as supervised off-site internship experiences.

Anyone with an interest in photography, whether beginner, advanced amateur or professional, will find a course or program within the photography program that will teach them new skills and/or prepare them for a career in photography.

The OCC Photography program is intended to prepare students for employment in a number of specialization areas within the field of professional photography. The student, after completing the first-year foundation courses, may elect to take advanced courses in art, commercial, advertising illustration, portraiture, architectural, fashion, or documentary photography, color management, digital workflow, and business practices for photographers.

Students will be prepared for entry-level positions as a photographer, production assistant, producer, content creator, director, media director, photo researcher, entrepreneur, videographer, visual researcher and visual communicator.

In addition to courses intended to train photographers, the program also includes several black and white and digital classes for professional photographers who wish to learn new skills and/or for those who are interested in careers as photographic digital technicians.

✓ Students will be able to demonstrate competence in the technical skills of photography, demonstrate the ability to evaluate photographic aesthetic strategies,  and create photographs that illustrate a critical understanding of visual language. Students will be prepared for entry-level positions as a photographer, production assistant, producer, content creator, director, media director, photo researcher, entrepreneur, videographer, visual researcher, and visual communicator.

This program offers training in areas such as digital photography, digital workflow, large-format digital capture and studio photography techniques. It is intended to prepare students for digital tech and photo assisting jobs in the professional photography community as well as a photo retoucher, producer, production assistant, content creator, entrepreneur, photo researcher, photo editor and visual communicator
