This is an entry-level program designed for those with little or no college experience. Personal Care Aides (PCA) provide assistance to consumers who are sick, injured, mentally or physically disabled, elderly and/or frail. They work in the home and help their clients with daily activities, such as bathing and bathroom functions, feeding, grooming, taking medication, and some housework.  Personal Care Aides help clients make and keep appointments with doctors, provide or arrange transportation, make and serve meals, make sure they take their medicine and serve as a companion for their clients. The demand for Personal Care Aide is expected to increase 34 percent from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations. This course is designed to prepare you to enter the workforce upon successful completion and provide the skills necessary to move upward in the healthcare field, should the student choose this career path.

✓ The graduates of the program will be prepared for entry-level employment as professional and competent Personal Care Aides to meet the needs of the local healthcare community and its consumers.

This certificate, issued through the Graduation Office, provides students with basic accounting and computer accounting coursework focusing on payroll accounting. Completion of the certificate will enable students to apply for entry-level positions in accounting with an emphasis in payroll.

The Workplace Readiness Certificate of Achievement teaches students to use professional behavior in the workplace with an emphasis on soft skills. Students learn to use appropriate oral communications, including tone, body language, attitude, interpersonal communications, teamwork, and other factors. Students learn how to build positive, appropriate relations with superiors, colleagues/co-workers, customers, clients, and other stakeholders. Students will develop emotional intelligence, personal responsibility, time management skills, a sense of self-worth, and an appreciation of the importance of human behavior at work. JOBS: This certificate is related to and appropriate for jobs across industries and skill and experience levels. The knowledge, skills, and behaviors are especially needed for service oriented occupations, such as customer service, health workers, or selling.

The Webmaster program prepares the student to build websites and maintain a web server. The certificate covers server-level aspects of web construction so one can efficiently run a business, government, or individual website. Topics include networking, operating system, web development, and database. The flexible restricted electives allow a student to further specialize in either operating system administration, web design, programming, or networking/security. With this Saddleback certificate, students can achieve two or more industry-coveted CompTIA certificates.

This certificate prepares the student to develop a web presence for businesses, organizations, and individuals in communication, marketing, and data management through the development of a website. Students will learn how to reach an audience and communicate ideas. The program includes basic and advanced software skills, developing a mission, goals, and the promotion and maintenance of a website.

Students completing the Certificate of Specialization in Orbital Welding will be prepared for entry-level employment in the piping industry.

✓ Perform welds on pipe or tubing using orbital welding equipment to the standards of AWS and ASME Code.

The Web and Mobile Developer Bootcamp Certificate provides students with a tuition‐free option to pursue an entry‐level career in the very fast‐growing web and mobile development area. The courses cover basic web development skills of database, SQL, JavaScript/jQuery, Adobe, web page IDEs, WordPress, HTML, Bootstrap, CSS, responsive design, and prepare individuals for entry‐level IT positions. The Web and Mobile Developer Bootcamp Certificate serves as a direct gateway to multiple CIM web design, webmaster, and other IT related credit certificates. The certificate is geared to individuals looking to build skills, recently out of work IT professionals, individuals unable to afford boot camp bills, or students looking to enhance a college degree with important 21st-century skills.  Students who complete this certificate are also well prepared to pursue IT, and Computer Science related majors.

The Travel and Tourism Certificate of Achievement program is designed to prepare students for careers in the travel agency industry. The program stresses the following: ticketing and reservations, major tourist areas and resorts, fares and routes, tour promotion, and planning including airline computing and cruise itineraries. The program covers all aspects of travel including air, cruise ships, rail, and car. Students completing this certificate will be prepared for occupations as: Travel Counselors, Meeting Planners, In-house Travel Consultants, Reservation Sales Agents, and Ticket Agents.

The Software Specialist program prepares the student for an entry-level position as a knowledge worker in the technical work environment using industry-standard software packages. The program focuses on the most popular Microsoft 365 applications. A student should be able to obtain work as a computer support specialist or help in obtaining numerous office administrator roles.

The Office Assistant Certificate of Achievement will enable students to apply for office personnel positions using Microsoft Office applications or any employment involving word processing, spreadsheets, office databases, and multimedia presentations. A grade of “C” or better is required in all courses. Transfer courses from other California Community Colleges with a grade of C or better will be accepted.
