This tuition-free noncredit certificate consists of two noncredit classes and is designed for English language learners who are new to the higher education system in the United States and want to complete ENGL C100 – Freshman Composition and transfer or complete an associate degree. Students in ESL C085N – Pronunciation Skills - Intermediate to Advanced will refine their American English pronunciation of consonants, vowels, stress, pitch, and intonation. It will support incoming students in their transition into college, which is necessary for student success. When students take ESL C095N – ESL Support for Freshman Composition, they will be concurrently enrolled in ENGL C100 – Freshman Composition and receive support to develop their grammar and academic reading and writing skills through activities, reading assignments, and short writing assignments, focusing especially on issues facing English language learners.

The Food and Beverage Management Advanced Certificate of Achievement at Orange Coast College is designed to prepare students for managerial employment within the food and beverage industry. Each program provides learning opportunities, which introduce, develop, and reinforce occupational knowledge, skills, and attitudes required.

The Food and Beverage Management Department offers a varied curriculum focusing on food and beverage management, dining room service, bar management, sustainable food systems, food recovery, and catering.

Classroom studies are reinforced with practical experience in the Captain's Table Restaurant, Organic Waste Management through composting, and the Food Repurposing Kitchen.

This program builds upon the Business Fundamentals Certificate of Achievement to prepare students for entry level positions and careers in marketing. The curriculum provides a variety of marketing courses that introduces students to marketing terminology, processes, and approaches including market research, pricing, promotion, social media marketing, and customer service. This certificate is part of a stackable certificate program that also prepares students seeking to earn an Associates in Arts Degree in Marketing.

This is a noncredit certificate program in English as a Second Language designed to prepare high-intermediate to advanced-level students for employment, career training courses, and further academic study. The certificate program focuses on speaking and listening skills, American English idioms and contemporary expressions, and pronunciation.  After completing the certificate, students may go on to credit ESL or general education classes, entry-level employment, or career training courses.

The Flight Operations Certificate of Achievement covers basic flight theory, advanced meteorology, airport and airline economics and management, advanced aircraft systems, and aircraft navigation.  Courses are intended to provide knowledge in topics that will allow the student to enter the workforce in the field of flight operations.  Careers include aircraft dispatch, aircraft, and aircrew scheduling, airport operations, and Fixed Base Operations.

✓ Students will develop a baseline understanding of industry and terminology along with the analytical and critical thinking skills necessary to enter the air transportation industry as professionals in non-flying capacities such as: ground operations, customer services, gate attendants, aviation sales, flight crew attendants, and charter flight coordinators.

It prepares students for further academic study in advanced level ESL courses by improving English language skills through a step-by-step grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and listening curriculum. After completing this certificate, students may go on to advanced ESL classes and academic programs as well as career training programs.

This program prepares men and women of all ages for the highly competitive flight attendant, or a customer service career in the airline and travel industry. Courses include airline, airport, and travel terminology codes, hiring qualifications, communication skills, appearance and image standards, written employment skills and oral interviewing techniques and strategies to set yourself apart. Students work on campus, and with community and charity events to enhance their public contact experience considered valuable for flight attendants and careers in the travel industry.

After completing this certificate, students may go on to mid-intermediate ESL classes and pursue an ESL Intermediate Preparation for Careers Certificate of Competency, leading to higher-level ESL courses and eventually academic programs as well as career training programs.
