The Fashion Styling & Visual Display Certificate of Achievement will provide students with core skills in fashion merchandising concepts, fashion history, color theory, industry-specific computer programs, and sustainability. Students will also gain knowledge in directed skills related to visual presentation, creative production, fashion styling, and fashion photography. Upon completion,
students will be prepared for entry-level employment in the fields of visual merchandising, styling, fashion marketing and media production in the fashion industry and related businesses.

Global Studies is an interdisciplinary study of world issues including climate change, terrorism, international crime, economic interdependence and disparities, universal human rights and social justice. The Certificate of Achievement (COA) in the Global Studies program encourages students to become global thinkers and problem-solvers. Students can earn this COA by choosing general education courses that have an international focus, while also earning a degree in another area of study. Students in this program of study will gain an appreciation of the diversity of human culture and perspectives. Graduates will possess an increased understanding of changes brought about by globalization as well as the interconnectedness of the world’s social, political, economic, and natural systems. This knowledge will enable them to better work in the global economy, live in a multicultural society and make intelligent decisions as global citizens; all of which are appealing to private and public industries who seek employees with these global competencies.

Upon completion, students will be prepared for entry-level employment in the fields of retail management, retail buying, e-commerce merchandising, fashion marketing, and retail planning in the fashion industry and related businesses.

The Fashion Media, Events, & Promotions Certificate of Achievement will provide students with core skills in fashion merchandising concepts, fashion history, color theory, industry-specific computer programs, and sustainability. Students will also gain knowledge in directed skills related to public relations, creative production, writing for social media, photography, and event planning. Upon completion, students will be prepared for entry-level employment in the fields of event planning, public relations (PR), styling, fashion marketing and media production in the fashion industry and related businesses.

✓ Students will be able to plan, promote and evaluate special events, with special attention to the skills involved in social media, public relations (PR), and creative production.

The Fashion Design Certificate of Achievement will provide students with core skills in design thinking, pattern making, garment construction, fashion history, color theory, industry-specific computer programs, and sustainability.  Students will also gain knowledge in directed skills related to Computer-Aided Design (CAD), technical packages, trend forecasting, and design to production processes. Upon completion, students will be prepared for entry-level employment in the fields of design, design assistant, freelance fashion design, or setting up independent design houses in the fashion industry and related businesses.

Program Outcomes

✓ Students will demonstrate a working knowledge of apparel sewing and pattern making.

✓ Students will be able to create and evaluate technical packages, with special attention to the skills involved in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), measurements, and production needs.

✓ Students will be able to analyze fashion processes and develop and execute their own design work.

Students enrolled in English 100 often need additional assistance. This program offers courses students may select based on individual need. Courses included in the program are ESL A045N, ESL A046N, ESL A047N, ESL A048N, and ESL A049N.

Program Outcome

✓ Upon completion of courses in this program, students will be able to apply specific language skills to their assignments in English 100 and other courses requiring advanced abilities.

The Environmental Resource Management Certification Program (ERM) is designed to provide education and training for individuals interested in working in the recycling and resource management/green jobs sector. As more cities, businesses, and institutions develop sustainability and resource management policies and programs, there is a need for people who can serve as sustainability coordinators, environmental educators, resource managers, and environmental program advocates. The ERM curriculum emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach that explores recycling and resource management from a variety of perspectives and settings. The curriculum will provide students with a general knowledge of environmental resource management emphasizing cultural, community, business, and educational applications. Courses will also include opportunities to develop environmental advocacy programs and projects as well as entry to related internships and shadow ship opportunities.

✓ Provide students with the skills and resources needed to find jobs across all industry sectors related to environmental resource management upon completion of the program.

The Marketing certificate programs are designed to train those individuals whose career paths involve the creative techniques of both oral and written sales presentations, advertising, and marketing. Courses emphasize the tools used by marketers, the environmental forces affecting the marketing process, sales communication skills, the major components of modern advertising and promotion, marketing research, and advertising planning and strategy. All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.

The Entrepreneurship program is designed to develop skills in starting, maintaining, and growing a small business. Courses emphasize feasibility analysis, legal considerations, financial management, marketing plans, and sales techniques. Completion of this certificate will allow students to pursue various entrepreneurial interests.

✓ Effectively apply and utilize the small businesses principles and techniques they have learned in a business environment or at a four-year college entrepreneur program.

The Entertainment Art certificate is for students wanting a career as an artist working for a studio in the Film, TV, Animation and Game industries. The focus is on World Building, known as Visual Development in these industries. These artists design and illustrate characters, environments, vehicles and props that form the visual world of stories we see on screen. The program is intended to introduce students to these fields and give them the skills and methods for internship and entry-level jobs, and that enable the lifelong learning necessary to be an Entertainment Artist.

Program Outcomes

✓ Demonstrate the skills necessary to design and illustrate worlds (environments, characters, vehicles and props) for stories made for screens.

✓ Create a portfolio utilizing industry-standard techniques for the purpose of gaining employment and/or acceptance to an art college or university for advanced learning.
