The Digital Communication Fundamentals Certificate of Completion is a noncredit program designed to prepare students to develop essential online digital and computer skills that are in demand in the 21st-century workplace, personal day-to-day tasks and for various educational modalities. Students will develop skills and competencies in basic hardware and online applications for basic operations of a computer and operating systems, email fundamentals for productive communication, cloud fundamentals on theory, definition, environment, features, functions and online applications such as, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and other online collaborative communication applications to obtain, sustain, advance employment opportunities, transition to other noncredit or credit programs in various career education fields. Students who successfully complete CHT A030N and CHT A040N will receive a Certificate of Completion.

This program is designed for intermediate English language learners. Students will develop listening, speaking, grammar, reading, and writing skills alongside the foundational skills for a potential transfer to career development or academic program.

✓ Students will demonstrate the ability to engage in extended discussions about less familiar topics orally and in writing with a growing grammar and pronunciation accuracy.

The Design/Build specialization certificate prepares students to design, develop, and construct small, sustainable projects.

Dental assisting is a challenging field requiring skills in chairside assisting, which includes manual dexterity, dental radiology, preventive therapy, patient management, receptionist duties, expanded functions and office management.

Qualified dental assistants find employment opportunities in a variety of settings such as private dental offices, specialty practices, federal or state dental programs and dental schools.

RDA functions are taught to laboratory competency and clinical competency where applicable. A list of laboratory and clinical competencies are available upon request.

The program application process is accomplished by taking the program prerequisite, Allied Health A010 or Allied Health A012. This short-term course is mandatory for all prospective program applicants. See the current class schedule for specific course meeting times. The Dental Assisting Registered program starts only in the fall semester of every school year.

This program is a sequential program. All fall semester courses must be taken concurrently in the fall semester. All spring semester courses must be taken concurrently in the spring semester.

✓ The outcome of the program is to meet the needs of the local healthcare community by preparing students for employment as a professional and competent registered dental assistant.

The Dance Instructor Certificate of Achievement program trains students for positions in the commercial and artistic areas of dance. Graduates of the program would be qualified as instructors in Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, or Tap in private studios or recreational and/or community dance programs. The Dance Department also recommends that students complete their General Education Requirements for an Associate in Arts Degree.

Students will be able to apply principles of movement and creativity to their preferred form of dance and demonstrate instructional skills effectively through movement demonstration and verbal cueing, using appropriate terminology, music, and safety measures.

Instruction will utilize both classroom work, using a variety of instructional methods (lecture, lab/demonstration, independent and group projects) and internship experiences in the business/industry to prepare the student for job requirements.

✓ Communicate proper dance technique effectively through movement demonstration and verbal cueing, using appropriate terminology, music, and safety measures.

The American Bar Association (ABA) approves Coastline’s Paralegal Studies Program. The Paralegal Program prepares personnel for the intermediary position between the legal secretary and the attorney, performing work under the supervision of an attorney. Paralegals work in law offices and other legal and law related environments, and many interact with clients. A paralegal shall not provide legal advice or engage in conduct that constitutes the unauthorized practice of law, including contracting with a natural person other than an attorney for the performance of paralegal services (California Business & Professions Code, Sections 6450 et seq.). This program is not intended to prepare students for law school or the practice of law.

This Supply Chain Management Certificate of Achievement program prepares students to progress in their careers and educational paths in a wide variety of industries that depend on their supply chains. For learners who are currently working, this program will provide them with the knowledge and skills to move up the career ladder to an analyst role or into another back-office function.

The supply chain management courses available in this certificate prepare students to sit for Council of Supply Chain Management (CSCMP) SCProTM Fundamentals certifications. Courses focus on overall supply chain management, demand planning, inventory control, and warehousing operations.

Potential careers include logistics analysts; industrial production managers; wholesale and retail buyers; cargo and freight agents; production, planning, and expediting clerks; and brokerage clerks. Supply chain positions are required in many industries and in businesses of many sizes.

The completion of the Certificate of Completion in Retail Employment is to prepare students for entry-level retail employment.

This Management certificate program prepares students to progress in their careers and educational paths. For those who are currently working, this program will provide them with the knowledge and skills to move up the career ladder or to progress further along a supervisor/manager career path. For those preparing to earn a degree in Management, these courses are the foundation for this degree. These courses also support transferring to a four-year university to earn a bachelor's degree in business, as these courses fulfill several transfer requirements.

The Health Care Management program is designed for the health care practitioner who is considering climbing the health care management ladder. Healthcare is one of today’s most dynamic and growing fields. It is the largest industry in the U.S., and the second largest employer, with more than 11 million jobs, presenting a wide range of management opportunities and challenges. Courses in this program will assist students in exploring the management field and provide them with the knowledge and information to pique their interest and consider upward mobility in the health care industry. This program is designed to help office, administrative, and support staff in the medical field to consider advancing to management positions. The program prepares students for transfer into bachelors programs in Health Care Administration, Business, Organizational Behavior, Management, and Leadership fields.
