This option provides the student with the lower-division transfer courses for some of the business-oriented majors. Students are advised to check course transferability with an Orange Coast College counselor prior to enrolling in CIS courses.

This Certificate of Completion is a noncredit program designed to build a foundation in basic computer and Internet usage for any learner with little or no computer experience. Students will develop an understanding and competency in basic computer usage, terminology and navigating the internet to obtain, sustain, and advance employment opportunities, and transition to the Business Information Worker Certificate or other college-level credit coursework. Students who successfully complete CHT A001N and CHT A002N will receive a Certificate of Completion.


Program Outcomes

✓ Students will demonstrate how to operate a computer and perform basic tasks in a Windows environment, identify components of a computer and develop a basic Word document.

✓ Students will demonstrate how to navigate and conduct a basic search on the internet using safety precautions and various web browsers and online tools.

Certificate of Achievement in Comprehensive Pilates Instructor

The  Comprehensive Pilates Instructor Certificate of Achievement prepares students to teach in a privately owned dance, fitness or Pilates studio, physical therapy clinic, recreational facility, or health club. Courses taught by Pilates-certified specialists cover the theory and technique surrounding various Pilates apparatuses (Reformer, Cadillac, Tower, Wunda or combination chair).  Students will learn methods to determine appropriate conditioning programs for people of all ages and physical conditions. To prepare students for employment, instruction uses both classroom work, with a variety of instructional methods (lecture, lab/demonstration, independent and group projects), and supervised off-site internship experiences.


Program Outcomes

✓ Successfully teach a Pilates Mat and apparatus class (utilizing Reformer, Cadillac, Tower, Wunda or Combination chair).

Certificate of Completion in Community Health Worker

Community Health Workers help families and communities improve their health by helping them navigate the healthcare system and providing access to needed resources. To complete this certificate, students must exhibit great self-discipline, motivation, and time management skills. Candidates need to be able to read and write in English. This program will prepare students to serve as community health workers by utilizing videos, case studies, disease reviews, discussions, and reading material. The skills lab portion allows students to learn, practice, and demonstrate CHW core competencies and develop stronger relations with community partners. The most common duties of a community health worker include health promotion education, outstanding culturally-based mindful communication, social support, mentoring, and resource management.


The State of California has revised the reimbursement schedule for MediCal and now will provide payment to clinics and clinicians who utilize certificated Community Health Workers.  The California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) will oversee the State’s certification for both CHW and training facilities.  As the change in reimbursement is in effect January 2024, there will be great need for CHW training programs to facilitate those who want HCAI certification by early 2024.  This program is aimed at serving students who want to pass the State’s CHW certification exam.


To earn the certificate, students must complete all content modules with a passing mark.  Individuals currently working as CHWs but do not meet the requirements of the legacy pathway may advance through the modules at their own pace.

This Professional Upgrade Certificate is designed to upgrade the skills and knowledge of the machinist or the CNC machine operator to the level of the CNC machine programmer. If you are a machinist and have minimal experience with CNC machines or machine language programming, you will first want to complete the CNC operator upgrade certificate. If you have both machining experience and CNC experience, the software used for the Machine Technology A133 and A134 courses provide excellent experiences in computer-assisted CNC programming. All of our programming courses require the use of a personal computer. If you have no computer experience, we strongly suggest you enroll in a basic computer use course first (Computer & High Technology A100 or Computer Information Systems A100).


Note: Two unit contract education course requirements must be designed in cooperation with the student and the instructor, or the student, instructor, and employer. This course will require the student to complete a project from beginning to end, to include all necessary paperwork, fixturing, programming, and machining of the final part, or the student may take Machine Technology A126, Advanced CNC Machine Operation.
