This program is designed to prepare students for careers as automotive service technicians. The curriculum aligns with the 8 certification areas of the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) technician certification program. This prepares students who are entering the workforce for the first time as well as those in the workforce who want to improve skills to advance their careers. Upon completion of this program, students will have developed the skills required to diagnose and repair complex vehicle systems.

This prepares students who are entering the workforce for the first time as well as those in the workforce who want to improve skills to advance their careers. Upon completion of this program, students will have developed the skills required to diagnose and repair chassis systems.

Program Level Learning Outcomes:

✓ Diagnose chassis related systems using industry accepted diagnostic tools and equipment.

✓ Assess chassis components using precision measuring tools and compare findings to published manufacturer’s specifications.

✓ Perform a chassis system repair procedure utilizing published Service Information (SI) procedures.

Students are given two options in order to prepare for a specialized field of study within the Automotive Technology program, the Chassis and Drivetrain option and the Engine Performance and Emissions option. New students entering either option are encouraged to consider taking preparation classes in automotive theory and computer skills before enrolling in the regular required courses for the certificate. This is intended to ensure successful performance in the required courses unless students have received prior training or education related to the recommended courses that would fulfill preparation expectations. These courses may normally be available in sequential patterns that would allow completion of the certificates within a two-year time frame.

Students will be responsible for providing their own textbooks, personal safety equipment, protective clothing, a basic hand tool set, and project related materials. The cost of these items will vary according to the place of purchase.

✓ Measure and convert assigned unit pieces to interpret the appropriate SAE and metric unit. (Celsius to Fahrenheit and inches to millimeters).

✓ Identify a fault (ac no air) and will perform a (repair) to then evaluate a successful (fix) in a lab situation.

✓ Analyze and diagnose automotive engines and related components for correct system operation.

✓ Demonstrate mastery of diagnostic tools and equipment used for automotive repair.

The Human Resource Management certificate is designed to train those individuals whose career paths involve payroll and timekeeping, human resource assistants, human resource specialists, and related occupations. Courses provide applicable knowledge in business and management basics along with specific coursework in human resource management and business law.

The Global Business Certificate of Achievement provides students a broad base of skills needed in the business and supply chain management aspects of working in small, medium, or large organizations that provide products and/or services locally or globally. Courses emphasize global business and management practices and the tools utilized in today’s global business environment. This certificate prepares students for careers in procurement, logistics, sales, production planning, and sourcing. Most courses in this certificate can be applied to a Business or Management degree.

Students in this program will explore animation concepts and gain hands-on experience using industry-standard hardware and software and motion capture systems. Animation is widely used in broadcast media, gaming and simulation, motion graphics, web design, and VR/AR. Students will employ techniques in storytelling and character development for both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional animation. Computer and drawing skills are very important in this field. Students will leave with an animation portfolio representative of the material and techniques studied, suitable for employment or transfer to another institution.

The Entrepreneurship Essentials program provides students a solid foundation in the business aspects of starting and operating a small business that provides products, services, or both. Students will explore entrepreneurial options and assess the viability of a business concept. Once the concept proves viable, students will develop operations, marketing, and financial plans describing how the business will run. By completing this three-course series, students will have the primary content of a full business plan that can be used to request funding, develop supplier relationships, build a management team, etc.

This prepares students for employment in advanced levels diagnostics. Upon completion of this program, students will have developed the skills required to diagnose and repair automotive HVAC related systems.
