This certificate program is designed to help adult non-native speakers of English continue to develop their ability to use English to communicate more effectively in a variety of settings. The courses in this program provide direct instruction of English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills at the low advanced level. Special attention is given to helping students consider the possibility to transition to career development or academic program.

This program is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Accrediting Commission.

The requirements for the Certificate of Achievement in Advanced Culinary Arts include coursework covering a solid foundational knowledge of the restaurant and hospitality industry. Students will prepare food for dining guests in the school’s Captain’s Table Restaurant. The coursework will help to prepare students who are interested in a professional career in the Culinary Arts.

This certificate will recognize advanced training in one of several advanced areas of medical imaging. Completion of the certificate requirements would allow the successful student the opportunity to take the applicable post-primary certificate offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Currently offered options include Mammography and Computed Tomography.

🗸 At the successful conclusion of the course sequence, students will be able to apply for and sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examinations in either Computed Tomography (CT) and Mammography (M).

The requirements for the Certificate of Achievement in Advanced Baking and Pastry includes courses which lead to students gaining a solid foundational knowledge of the baking and pastry industry. Courses are designed for students who desire a career as an entrepreneur in the baking/pastry industry, or in the following positions found at restaurants, hotels, resorts, clubs, and bakeries; head baker, assistant pastry chef, pastry chef, and executive pastry chef.

The Basic Landscape Horticulture certificate program is intended for those students who are limited by time constraints to a one-year program. Graduates with this certificate can find employment at the basic or entry level in grounds maintenance or as a park worker, gardener, or landscape designer.

This Certificate of Specialization is designed for students who wish to participate in the Adapted Physical Education Program at Orange Coast College and work towards completing course work in adapted physical activity and nutrition classes. It provides students with special needs the opportunity to develop skills related to teamwork, personal responsibility, dedication to a personal fitness program, effective communication, within a physically active environment. Students who complete this certificate will have demonstrated excellence in time management, Personal drive, enthusiasm and commitment to a goal. Increased physical independence, self-help skills or skills that promote independence and self-sufficiency and/or mobility.

The Basic Drone Imaging Skills Certificate of Achievement program is a Career Technical Ed specialty, designed for the student who wants a concentrated course of study in the field of Drone imaging. It has been designed to prepare students for entry-level employment as a UAS image capture specialist and preparing for FAA Part 107 Pilot license certification. Students will be educated in the use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems, photography, videography, post-production editing, careers and business practices.

Program Outcome

✓ Students will be able to demonstrate competence as an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Image Capture Specialist and show a critical understanding of aerial visual image capture and post production. Students will be prepared for entry level positions as a drone photographer.
