The ESL Milestone Certificate - Pathway to Transfer: Social Sciences & Humanities is designed to prepare English Language learners (ELLs) for the academic rigor of degree-applicable coursework in various Guided Pathways Meta Majors. Students completing these certificates have achieved academic English reading and writing skills at an advanced, post-secondary level; they have also achieved success in prerequisite or introductory coursework in a variety of degree, certificate, or general education patterns. These two elements combine to demonstrate significant achievement of a milestone along their pathways to Social Sciences/Humanities degrees, certificates, or transfer. To earn a certificate, students must complete the required courses as listed with a grade of C or better. At least 50% of all major course work must be completed at Cypress College. The Creative Writing Certificate is designed for students seeking a broad appreciation of literature and increased skills in communication. In particular, it provides students with the opportunity to pursue their interest in creative writing through intensive study and practice of the literary arts. Students will immerse themselves in a structured, focused, and multi-faceted curriculum of the writer's art by studying literature and honing their own writing skills to create original, polished works of poetry and prose. Students will read, write, and engage in dialogue about creative works in a supportive workshop environment. To earn a certificate, students will complete the required courses as listed with a grade of C or better. At least 50% of all coursework must be completed at Cypress College. The certificate requires a total of 18 units.

The Robotics Technician Certificate program provides a basic foundation of industrial robotics and how they can be used in a plant or manufacturing system. The simulation software, integrated within the program emulates real-world robotics applications and employs the basic principles common to the vast majority of robots currently in use in the automation industry. To earn a certificate, complete the required courses as listed with a minimum grade of C or better. At least 50% of all coursework must be completed at Cypress College.

The certificate in Mechatronics and Industrial Automation is designed to prepare students for employment as entry-level industrial automation technicians. The program prepares students for careers in the design, operation, and maintenance of industrial automation systems focusing on the local industries that utilize these technologies, such as food production, petroleum production, fabrication, and logistics. This program focuses on the application of electronics and computer technology to industrial automation systems, including instrumentation and control, industrial robotics, and process control systems. Significant emphasis is placed on project-based learning facilitated by significant laboratory work. To earn a certificate, complete the required courses as listed with a minimum grade of “C”. At least 50% of all coursework must be completed at Cypress College.

The Department of Radiologic Technology will provide occupational training in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The purpose of this instruction is to qualify the student for examination by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and to prepare the student for gainful employment in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. To earn a certificate, students must have an associate's degree and complete the required DMS program courses as listed with a grade of C or better. At least 50% of all coursework must be completed at Cypress College. This certificate requires a total of 66.5 units.

Program Student Learning Outcomes:

✓ OUTCOME 1: Acquire the workforce preparation skills and knowledge, including abdomen, small parts, obstetrics, and gynecology scanning, necessary for employment in the field of sonography.

The Ultrasonic Scaling and Coronal Polishing Certificate offers a curriculum that provides the student with the appropriate academic instruction to achieve eligibility for the National Board of Dental Hygiene Examiners written examination, and the Western Regional Examining Board Examination (WREB) for licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist, qualifying the candidate as stipulated in the California Dental Practice Act. A Certificate of Completion of “Ultrasonic Scaling and Coronal Polishing” shall be issued after a student has achieved both procedures to clinical competency and successful passed the courses. The Dental Board of California set forth the requirements and the California Code of Regulations of 16 CCR 107.4 and 16 CCR 107.5. At least 50% of all coursework must be completed at Cypress College. This certificate requires a total of 12 units.

The Radiation Safety Certificate offers a curriculum that provides the student with the appropriate academic instruction to achieve eligibility for the National Board of Dental Hygiene Examiners written examination, and the Western Regional Examining Board Examination (WREB) for licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist, qualifying the candidate as stipulated in the California Dental Practice Act. A Certificate of Completion of Radiation Safety shall be issued after a student has achieved both procedures to clinical competency and successful passed the courses. The Dental Board of California set forth the requirements and the California Code of Regulations of 16 CCR 1014.1.In order to earn this certificate, 50% of the coursework must be completed at Cypress College. The certificate requires a total of 10 units.

A Certificate of Completion of Pit and Fissure Sealant shall be issued after a student has achieved all procedures to clinical competency and successful passed the courses. The Dental Board of California set forth the requirements and the California Code of Regulations of 16 CCR 107.3.In order to earn this certificate, 50% of the coursework must be completed at Cypress College. The certificate requires a total of 14.5 units.
