This course provides students with a broad introduction to 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and modeling with a focus on construction- and architecture-specific applications. Students will learn how to use industry-leading CAD software programs (Autodesk and AutoCAD) to model construction projects, and then create and distribute basic, industry-standard architectural drawings.

 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand the power and precision of computer-aided modeling and drafting;
  2. Learn how to construct accurate 2D geometry as well as complex 3D shapes and surface objects;
  3. Learn how to create 2D representations of 3D objects as plan views, elevations and sections;
  4. Learn how to assemble these drawings in industry-standard plan form and produce plotted hard copies ready for distribution;
  5. Understand the concepts of architectural drafting with a focus on industry standards.

Assistant Brewer Training Certificate

The Assistant Brewer Training Program allows participants to first learn about the basics of brewery operations, and then train as an intern at Cal Poly Pomona University's brewery, Innovation Brew Works. Participants will use the University's signature "Learn‐by‐Doing" approach- tailored here into “Learn-by-Brewing” to gain the hands-on skills and experience needed to become a successful Assistant Brewer in the industry. Learned skillsets are based on actual commercial brewery SOPs, and participants will receive a unique and one-of-a-kind opportunity to be involved in the production and handling of the finished beer served to the public at IBW.

 

Participants' performance is evaluated by supervising industry professionals to monitor the progress of the participants through their trial/error and success. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive an Assistant Brewer Certificate issued by Cal Poly Pomona’s College of Professional and Global Education (CPGE), acknowledging the accomplishment and accumulated knowledge gained to succeed in the brewing industry.
 

Certificate Eligibility

Participants receive the Assistant Brewer certificate signifying the completion of an 80-hour internship and successful passing of course quizzes and exams.

Accounting Global Access Academic Certificate

The College of Business Administration, Singlyn Graduate School of Business and the College of Professional and Global Education are proud to offer the Accounting Global Access Academic Certificate (AGAC) program. The Accounting Global Access Academic Certificate Program is designed to provide students the opportunity to gain a foundation in accounting skills within the realm of accounting standards and principles. The program comprises 8 core courses in accountancy with a total of 24 credit units that will be completed within one year. The program aims to create learning opportunities for students to extend their accountancy knowledge and expand their career opportunities through the focused educational program. The 24 credit units in this academic certificate program is relevant to the CPA exam and certification.  Program participants will also benefit from the program in getting prepared for admission to the graduate program in accountancy at Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) or other institutions.

 

The College of Business Administration (CBA) at Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) has been accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a distinction that less than 5% of the world’s 13,000 business programs have earned. Biomedical Illustration Prep Certificate

The number of lower-division units will depend upon the amount of French studied previously in high school or college, since students with prior study of French may enter with advanced standing. In addition to 9 upper-division units, students must pass an externally administered oral proficiency test.

Religious Studies Certificate

The program in Religious Studies develops in students a critical understanding of the forms of religious phenomena in their cultural and historical contexts and a sensitivity to different value systems. The program provides students with an introduction to the major religious traditions and to religion in the modern world. Because religion infuses human cultures in visible and invisible ways, Religious Studies places special emphasis on relating the religious dimension of human life to the humanities, sciences, and social sciences. 

 

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree with a major in a traditional discipline. The Religious Studies Certificate is organized into four areas of study. Religious Texts examines texts from the world’s religious traditions and their historical and cultural contexts. Religious Traditions (Group A) includes coursework in Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and Religious Traditions (Group B), coursework in Buddhism, the religions of Japan, the religions of South Asia, the religions of Southeast Asia, and indigenous religions. The fourth area of study is Religion in the  Contemporary World.

Legal Studies Certificate

This certificate is designed for students who are interested in the study of law as a cultural product and as a field of critical inquiry. It is not a professional program in para-legal education. The certificate may be earned in conjunction with any baccalaureate or post-baccalaureate degree. Courses taken in the program may be used to satisfy major, minor, other credential or general education requirements. No more than 12 units, however, may be in the candidate’s major.


The Legal Studies Certificate may be earned concurrently with or following the award of the baccalaureate degree from CSULB or another accredited institution. Please be aware that this program is not eligible for Financial Aid unless pursued concurrently with a degree program.

This certificate offers students, with a baccalaureate degree in any field, an opportunity to supplement their education with a focus on the interdisciplinary study of Latin America. Courses used to meet this certificate may be counted also, where applicable, toward General Education requirements, and the major or minor requirements of the cooperating departments. Recommended: successful completion of two college intermediate-level courses in Spanish, Portuguese or any other language appropriate to the concentration area of the equivalent fluency as determined by the program advisor.

Geographic Information Science Certificate

This certificate provides experience in quantitative spatial analysis using Geographic Information Systems software, remotely sensed imagery and field-derived data, and effective communication through maps. The certificate serves as a supplement to standard degree programs or may be taken individually as a post-baccalaureate program.
