This program is designed to prepare individuals who have earned a bachelor’s degree in a field other than real estate for entry into a variety of real estate careers, including sales, investment, management, and mortgage banking. It meets the course requirements for the California Real Estate Salesperson Exam.

A total of 12 units will be required for completion of this certificate program. This program can be completed without any additional pre-requisites; however, FIN 3810 and has FIN 2050 (Business Law) as a prerequisite. Upon completion of course requirements, students will be awarded a Certificate in Real Estate.

This certificate is open to all students except for those completing a BSBA with an Option in Real Estate or a Minor in Real Estate.

The post-baccalaureate Certificate in Postsecondary Reading program provides professional preparation and training in the theory and practice of teaching reading to adults. Coursework in reading theory and pedagogy with teaching and/or tutoring experience provides the competencies and skills necessary to teach reading to adults.

Eligibilities

- Students must either be in a graduate degree program at California State University, Los Angeles or must apply for graduate admission to the University.

- Once admitted to Cal State LA, prospective Postsecondary Reading Certificate students must apply to the Reading Programs Co-Coordinators for admission to the program.

- Students must successfully complete the Writing Placement Exam (WPE) or have a score of 41 or better on the writing section of the CBEST no later than the second term of coursework at California State University, Los Angeles.

- The program is designed for graduate students who expect to teach in community college and/or adult education settings. Students must provide evidence from coursework related to adult readers in order to earn the certificate in postsecondary reading.

The Certificate Program in Online Teaching and Learning is designed to meet the growing needs of online educators in a wide variety of teaching sectors like K-12 teachers, Higher Education faculty, Community College Professors, non-profits, governmental agencies and businesses that develop online training programs. The Online Teaching and Learning certificate is designed for both experienced trainers and educators and those interested in entering the field of online teaching and learning including:

-  K-12 teachers (blended classrooms and virtual schools)
-  Vocational and community college instructors (adjunct and full-time)
-   College and university professors (adjunct and full-time)
-   Doctors, Nurses and other Health educators involved in patient education, continuing education or in-service education, community
      health education professionals, or academic healthcare education
-   K-16 Curriculum consultants, professional development, technology  coordinators, and distance education leaders
-   Continuing education facilitators and trainers in professional associations, nonprofit organizations, business, government, and
     military interested in teaching online and blended courses, or using web-based components to enhance face-to-face instruction.

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Nutritional Science program at Cal State LA provides students with the knowledge and skills to apply for a supervised practice program (dietetic internship).  Students will be provided a verification statement upon successful completion of all the courses. The curriculum also provides the foundation for students to continue their education at the graduate level in nutrition or related fields.

The total number of units required for the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Nutritional Science Program is 35.

Admission to the Program

Applicants must meet the university requirements for admission, which include a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. To be admitted into the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Nutritional Science Program at Cal State, applicants must also meet or provide the following:

1.  Apply to the University to be eligible for admission

2. Two letters of recommendation, with one from an academic source.

3. Letter of professional and research goals. Specific directions will be available in the supplemental application.

4. Completion of prerequisites or ability to demonstrate completion prior to beginning program.

The certificate provides postbaccalaureate students the competencies needed to succeed in the field of higher education counseling and career counseling. Students will acquire competencies in the areas of job development, integrated life planning, lifestyle career development theory, career counseling, higher education counseling, occupational information, community resources, cross-cultural counseling, and career counseling for special populations. The certificate is designed for students in the Rehabilitation Counseling option within the M.S. Counseling degree and includes an emphasis on the intersection of Rehabilitation Counseling and Higher Education and Career Counseling.

Admission to the program requires current enrollment in the M.S. in Counseling option in Rehabilitation Counseling program at California State University, Los Angeles.

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate program in Healthcare Leadership is designed to update and prepare healthcare professionals for leading people and change and for navigating their careers in the context of ongoing healthcare reform. The program focuses on current organizational and management aspects of the healthcare industry. A bachelor’s degree with a 2.5 minimum grade point average and one or more years of healthcare experience are required for admission to the program.

A minimum of 12 units is required: 6 units of required courses and 6 units of electives. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Healthcare Leadership.

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) credit certificate is offered by the Department of Geosciences and Environment to students with up-to-date theory and technology in spatial analysis in urban planning, political science, and environmental studies. It provides students a Post-Baccalaureate alternative for acquiring a recognized certification for GIS competency.

This is a joint Program of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at California State University, Los Angeles and Raytheon Corporation.

The College of Engineering, Computer Science and Technology (ECST) aims to partner with industry to provide college-based credit for a select number of mutually developed and approved courses offered through the College of Professional and Global Education. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, in collaboration with industry partners, has developed the post-baccalaureate certificate in Fundamentals of Radar Systems. The program leverages the expertise of partners in the defense electronics and radar systems industry along with Cal State LA’s well-regarded graduate MSEE program in the communication systems specialization, to offer a unique opportunity to students interested in developing an in-depth knowledge of the basic principles of radar systems.

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Enterprise Systems offers students the ability to gain specialized experience with modules in SAP ERP. More importantly, students gain a better understanding of how decisions in purchasing and materials management, operations planning, and information systems play a role in the success of an organization as a whole.

Large-scale enterprise systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)s have become the backbone of today’s information systems. These systems integrate information from all areas of an organization (i.e., marketing, operations, HR, sales) as well as up and down the supply chain.

In today’s business environment, managers must demonstrate proficiency in their understanding of enterprise systems and be able to design, employ, and use these systems effectively as a requirement to a successful career. The Graduate Certificate in Enterprise Systems is designed to provide students with the ability to demonstrate an overall understanding and working knowledge of the function, design, control, and use of ESs.  In addition to understanding ERP systems, this certificate also focuses on understanding how, administratively and operationally, each area of the organization interacts, leverages, and affects each other to create a desired outcome across the organization.

The curriculum provides students with sufficient conceptual understanding and applied skills to be able to navigate the complexities of transaction processing and data queries inherent in modern enterprise systems. A particular emphasis is given to the predominant enterprise system within large organizations, SAP, culminating in SAP TERP 10 instruction and the TERP 10 examination.

This Enterprise Systems Certificate with SAP program was developed so that students gain a valued credential from Cal State LA, and also meet the requirements for the SAP Student Recognition Award from SAP University Alliances.

This postbaccalaureate credit certificate program is designed to prepare students to teach English as a second language (ESL) in post-secondary settings in the U.S. or to teach English as a foreign language (EFL) abroad. Specifically, the program is designed for (A) students who hold a master’s degree in a discipline other than ESL or applied linguistics and wish to be certified to teach ESL in a community college or university and (B) students who plan to teach EFL abroad.
