The Certificate of Achievement in French Language promotes fluency in French and an understanding of French culture. This twenty-unit program of study of a second language and its culture prepares students to interact competently with French-speaking people in a variety of settings, including, but not limited to, education, retail, hospitality, travel, medicine, entertainment, and community services. The program assists students who are seeking careers in a wide variety of fields that value multilingualism and multiculturalism, and/or cater specifically to French-speaking consumers. The Certificate of Achievement establishes French linguistic and cultural fluency as a foundation for further studies in French in the areas of global studies, teaching French language, literature and linguistics. The need for court and medical translation and interpreting jobs is progressively growing in California as per the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and this CoA provides our students with opportunities to succeed in this growing market. This certificate leads to AA degrees in Global Studies, Spanish and World Languages.

The Fire Protection Technology Firefighter Academy Certificate of Achievement prepares students for employment in the fire service. The program includes courses in basic and advanced firefighting skills, rope rescue, hazardous material operations, wildland firefighting, vehicle extrication, and physical fitness techniques.

The Fire Protection Technology program prepares the students for a career in the fire service. The curriculum includes courses in building construction related to firefighter and life safety, history and philosophy of fire prevention, fire and life safety education, fire investigation, water-based fire suppression systems, special hazard fire suppression systems, water supply for fire protection and portable fire extinguishers, career opportunities in fire protection and related fields, and the culture and history of emergency services.

The Latinx Studies Certificate of Achievement is a program that prepares students to work with rapidly growing Spanish-speaking populations in the U.S. in a variety of settings, including education, retail, medicine, travel, hospitality, community services, and others. The certificate provides students with theoretical and methodological tools to understand and analyze the complexity of Latinx lives in the United States while it prepares students to interact appropriately with Spanish Speaking communities. At the same time, it provides students with skills to be proactive citizens who can address social issues in their communities, as well as work and live competently in diverse settings. This Certificate of Achievement may be a first step to complete the Social Justice Studies: Ethnic Studies AA-T and the Spanish AA-T. This certificate establishes a foundation for further studies in Spanish, Latinx studies, social justice, ethnic studies, education, political science, sociology, world civilization, and other disciplines, as well as for professionals in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors who work with or wish to learn about Latinx communities in the United States to further their career goals.

This certificate is a two-course, noncredit, variable-hour field training program that introduces agency new recruit/employees to the hands-on job requirements of a firefighter. The program provides education and training for a California firefighter trainee including current practices in fire and life safety, basic medical, and rescue techniques.

This short three-course fashion certificate program offers a brief insight to students interested in fashion design and merchandising. It is ideal for those who want to transfer to a university with a fashion design and merchandising program to pursue a career in the global fashion industry.

This certificate gives students a grounding in the principles of integrated pest management in landscape and nursery settings. Integrated pest management stresses identification and monitoring of plant pests and diseases and finding the least harmful control method for the situation. Students will be familiar with invertebrate and vertebrate pests, fungal and bacterial diseases, nutritional deficiencies and weed control, and with the variety of possible control strategies. Students with this certification will be prepared for the Qualified Applicator Certificate exam administered by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation, a widely recognized certification among horticultural employers.
