The geographic information systems (GIS)/global positioning system (GPS) program is designed to prepare students for entry into careers that employ generalized or specialized applications of GIS. GIS is a versatile and powerful technology that allows data input, data management, analysis and display of result within a single setup. Most local, state, and federal government agencies use GIS, as do businesses, planners, architects, foresters, geologists and a host of other occupations. Students learn technical and analytical skills for research as well as practical skills necessary to enter the job market and obtain positions with such titles as GIS technician, GIS specialist, GIS analyst, GIS programmer, GIS coordinator, GIS supervisor and GIS manager.

To earn a certificate of achievement, students must complete each course used to meet a certificate requirement with a “C” grade or higher. Required courses are available in the evening and during the day.

- synthesize data from various sources and different formats for spatial analyses.

- apply spatial tools and techniques in a research or work environment.

- explain the fundamentals of geospatial technologies and how they operate.

The drone technology certificate of achievement program is designed to prepare students to take the Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 commercial drone pilot exam and for entry into careers that employ generalized or specialized applications of drones. Students will select an area of business, industry, or government to apply drone piloting, data acquisition, data processing.

To earn the certificate of achievement students must complete the following courses with a “C” grade or higher.

Students completing this program will be able to...

- explain the basics of drone flight preparation.

- demonstrate how to download and post-process data acquired with a drone.

- describe UAS laws, air space regulations, and licensing.

- demonstrate the procedures for analyzing data obtained during a drone flight.

- demonstrate how the data obtained from drone is ap- plied in a selected profession.

- explain the how data acquired by drone is used in geospatial applications.

Since most students will likely work in a business-related organization, the business program seeks to 1) help students become aware of, and knowledgeable about, domestic and global business environments; 2) prepare business majors for transfer to four-year academic programs in business and economics; 3) help students become aware of possible business-related jobs and careers; and 4) enhance students’ appreciation of life-long learning as a basis for continued self-development and professional career success in the business arena.

A certificate of achievement may be earned by completing all the courses required in this concentration with a grade of C or better.

The courses and laboratories we offer allow students to experience and understand the diversity of life and how it functions on a scale ranging from molecules to ecosystems. Biotechnology courses demonstrate the use of living organisms and bioprocesses in engineering, technology, medicine, and other applications.

The Pre-Allied Health Certificate of Achievement provides classroom and hands-on laboratory experience for students to master skills and knowledge in biological sciences needed before applying for many of the allied health fields. Students who achieve this certificate will have completed the basic prerequisite courses required to apply for transfer programs including but not limited to nursing, physician’s assistant, radiography, sonography, nuclear medicine, dental hygiene, pharmacy, clinical laboratory assistance, occupational therapy, veterinary technology, and other related fields. A certificate of achievement may be earned by completing all courses required for this program with a grade of C or better.

The courses and laboratories we offer allow students to experience and understand the diversity of life and how it functions on a scale ranging from molecules to ecosystems. Biotechnology courses demonstrate the use of living organisms and bioprocesses in engineering, technology, medicine, and other applications.

The Biotechnology Assistant Certificate of Achievement provides both entry-level workforce skills and a bridge into the rigorous biotechnology training and pre-allied health programs at CCC and other programs in the region. Students will receive hands-on laboratory experience utilizing state of the art bio-manufacturing equipment. Students completing this certificate will be able to demonstrate their competence for entry-level employment. This certificate also prepares students for higher-level training and education, which can further increase employability in a field where advanced degrees are highly desirable. A certificate of achievement may be earned by completing all courses required for this program with a grade of “C” or better.

This certificate of achievement was created to give students the opportunity to show potential employers in this country and in other countries that the student has completed a certain number of courses in French and prepares students with an intermediate to advanced knowledge of French and familiarizes them with the culture of the Francophone world.

This certificate of achievement provides students, prospective employers and others with documented evidence of persistence and academic accomplishment in the language. The certificate requires completion of at least 13 units from one of the following lists of courses Students may not take a credit/ no credit option for required courses and each course must be completed with a “C” grade or higher.

Completion of this program will prepare the student to successfully pass the California Department of Real Estate Salesperson Examination and possess additional study towards a 4-year degree in the field of business or real estate. Since the dream of every citizen in California is to someday own/possess real property, the real estate program seeks to: help students understand and appreciate the benefits and responsibilities involved in owning real property; learn about the commercial (and personal) aspects of accumulating and transferring real estate; and prepare for successful completion of the California Department of Real Estate Salesperson Examination.

A Certificate of Achievement may be earned by completing all the courses required for this major with a grade of C or better.
