The College's Automotive Technology program is certified by the Automotive Service Excellence Education Foundation (ASEEF). The program is conducted in a well-equipped facility with a large fleet of late model domestic and import vehicles. Automobile manufacturers provide substantial support for the program.

Students can pursue a certificate or degree in Automotive Technology or a specialty degree or certificate in Japanese Automotive Technology. Our partnerships with Subaru of America, Inc., Nissan of America, Infinity of America, Ford Motor Co. and Audi of America, Inc. provide employment opportunities for students enrolled in our programs. Our internship program matches students with employers who agree to mentor the student for a minimum of one semester. The College also provides numerous classes to update the knowledge and skills of practicing technicians.

The Certificate of Achievement in Business Supervision/Management (BSM) is a program that is designed to prepare students for managerial and leadership positions in various industries with job titles such as, but not limited to, Service Manager, Retail Sales Manager, Customer Service Manager, and Operations Manager. Students will learn the fundamentals of basic business administration including leadership, management, human resource management, and work experience.

1. Understand the challenges and opportunities which define the job of being a leader, manager, or supervisor in today’s high-tech global economy.

2. Demonstrate analytical and critical thinking skills to devise innovative and creative solutions to problems faced by leaders, managers, and supervisors in today’s industries.

This certificate prepares students with foundational knowledge and practical skills to work effectively in diverse work environments. This certificate provides foundational theories and practical skills in professional and business communication including presentation skills, interviewing, conflict management, and team leadership. This certificate focuses on building intercultural and interpersonal communication competence.

Requirements for Certificate of Accomplishment:

a) Complete satisfactorily the courses listed for the particular certificate.
b) Complete at least 50% of the required units at Ohlone College.
c) Maintain a 2.0 grade point average

The Business Analyst is one of the most important roles in IT and there is a high demand for this skill, especially in today’s big data-driven business environment. Business analytics focuses on developing new insights and understanding of business performance based on data. Through this curriculum, students will explore techniques and skills on how to turn data into information and information into insights in order to help make informed business decisions.

1. Employ basic knowledge of Big Data and BI technologies and processes to write dashboard programs.

2. Discuss how to turn data into meaningful information utilizing business analysis tools and processes.

The Certificate of Achievement in Biotechnology Operations provides students with excellent preparation in various protocols and hands-on laboratory skills used in biotechnology companies. Students will also become familiar with the primary functional areas of biotechnology operations: product development, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, quality assurance, and quality control. A goal of the program is to prepare students for entry-level positions in biotech and pharmaceutical companies, including jobs as laboratory assistants and bio-manufacturing technicians.

1. Apply industrial standards for documentation of laboratory procedures and results.

2. Demonstrate the use of common laboratory equipment such as micropipettes, spectrophotometers, electrophoresis equipment, pH meters, thermocyclers, bioreactors, etc.

3. Prepare buffers and other laboratory stock and working solutions to proper specifications.

4. Identify and compare the roles and responsibilities of the primary functional areas of biotechnology operations: Product Development, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control.

The Administration of Justice program seeks to prepare students for careers in law enforcement and legal studies. The courses in Skyline's program lead to transfer programs at four-year colleges and universities.

- Identify and describe the structure and functions of the main components of the criminal justice system: law enforcement, courts, corrections, and juvenile justice.

- Critically consider, analyze, and research special issues in criminology and criminal justice and their effects on society.

- Recognize the importance of, and practice, ethical behavior in a professional criminal justice work setting, both within the agency and within the community.

The Certificate of Individual Tax Preparer will allow students to enter the professional field of tax preparation without an associate degree. Basic accounting and tax preparation knowledge will give students the skills to prepare tax returns for individuals.

- Demonstrate the relevant concepts and applications of tax regulations needed to succeed in a tax preparation career.

- Demonstrate knowledge of ethical standards established by relevant professional organizations.

The Accounting Clerk in Government Accounting Certificate prepares students for positions in governmental agencies and no for-profit organizations. The differences between Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) will be explored through the various courses.

- Apply critical thinking and analytical skills in decision-making and problem-solving.

- Understand and apply governmental accounting principles to prepare financial reports.

- Prepare governmental budgets and perform the necessary steps for completing the governmental accounting cycle.

The Certificate of Achievement in Biotechnology: Biotechnology Research Associate is designed to train students in methods and techniques used in research settings. Courses in this program train students in DNA and protein laboratory techniques and assays, laboratory record-keeping, sterile techniques, advanced PCR procedures, and genomic/cDNA library construction and analytical skills. The program prepares students for entry-level positions in biotechnology/pharmaceutical companies as research assistants and laboratory assistants/technicians.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

1. Apply industrial standards in recording laboratory procedures and results in a laboratory notebook.

2. Demonstrate the use of common laboratory equipment such as micropipettes, spectrophotometers, electrophoresis equipment, pH meters, thermocyclers, bioreactors, etc.

3. Prepare buffers and other laboratory stock and working solutions to proper specifications. 4. Analyze and interpret data from experiments.

The Certificate of Achievement in Biotechnology: Biostatistics is a program designed to train students in methods and techniques used in biotechnology statistical analysis. Courses in this program train students in DNA and protein laboratory techniques and assays, laboratory record-keeping, sterile techniques, and mathematical analysis of laboratory outcomes. The program prepares students for entry-level positions in bio-manufacturing, biostatistician assistant, clinical data assistant/associate, validation assistant/technician, production planner/scheduler, and research assistant/associate positions requiring skills in statistics.
