The Certificate of Achievement in Cloud Computing Administration provides a foundation in technical skills that are in great demand across all industries. Cloud computing presents a change in information technology and computer networking, as it enables organizations to access the computing services of worldwide data centers via the Internet. Cloud computing is being rapidly adopted in all sectors, which has led to high demand for a workforce prepared to deploy, secure, and troubleshoot cloud-based infrastructure services across IT systems. This program includes curriculum from CompTIA Cloud+, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon AWS.

The Intercollegiate Athletics Certificate of Achievement is for students who wish to participate in intercollegiate athletics and work towards completing lower division general education. It provides student athletes the opportunity to develop skills related to teamwork, leadership, collaboration, and personal responsibility within a team environment. It also provides them with an introduction to athletic training, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), introduction to kinesiology, and communication. Upon completion, students will have demonstrated success in lower division general education coursework and in intercollegiate athletic courses.

The Peer Support Specialist Certificate is a five-unit program that trains students to enter the field of mental/behavioral health as peer support specialists. The course of study introduces behavioral health skills covering the 17 peer specialist core competencies as identified by the California Department of Health Care Services. Examples of core competencies include conflict resolution, systems navigation, safety and crisis planning, trauma-informed care, self-awareness and self-care, and digital literacy. The training is a one-semester course of study and meets the 80-hours California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) requirement. Those completing the course of study will qualify to submit an application to sit for the California Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist State Examination.

The Certificate in Addiction and Recovery Counseling is designed to prepare individuals for work in alcohol, drug and other addictions counseling. The program emphasizes a public health approach that addresses community, social, and individual level factors in addiction while providing certificate candidates with a strong background in treatment modalities, health education and prevention, professional and ethical responsibilities, and client advocacy. Courses are sequenced based on knowledge and skills that are acquired as students move through the program.

The Addiction and Recovery Counseling Certificate is accredited by an external accreditation agency, California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP).

The Video Certificate of Achievement is designed for students who would like to produce, create, or edit videos for private, public, or non-profit settings such as for gallery display, social media marketing, vlogging, new media storytelling, video editing, and film-making. Video art is a multidisciplinary educational experience, and the program emphasizes lecture courses along with hands-on studio experience in the photographic and video lab. This certificate will give students a foundation of knowledge they will need to be successful as they transfer to a four year institution to obtain a bachelor’s degree, as they join the workforce for entry level jobs such as a video production assistant, videographer or video-editor, or as a continuing education skill for use in their current career. The primary areas of focus for this certificate will be the production and editing of videos.

The Traditional Black and White Photography Certificate of Achievement is designed for students who would like to pursue a specialization in professional art photography practices for a career in fine arts, art education, photo-lab management, portrait photography, or gallery or museum management, or in arts non-profit management.  Art Photography is a multidisciplinary educational experience, and our program emphasizes lecture courses along with hands-on studio experience in our photography lab.  This program will give students a foundation of knowledge they will need to be successful as they transfer to a four-year institution to obtain a bachelor’s degree in order to join the workforce for entry level jobs such as an art-educator, or as a continuing education skill for use in their current art practice.  The primary areas of focus for this certificate will be the creation of art photographic imagery utilizing traditional black and white photography.

The Portrait Photography Certificate of Completion is a noncredit certificate designed to teach skills and techniques for creating commercial portrait photography using on-location expressive and interpretive lighting. Students will have hands-on experience and access to image editing software for professional retouching for both fine art and commercial portraiture.  Upon completion, students will have skills to apply for jobs in commercial photography studios in portrait, event, fashion and wedding photography, and digital retouching. May be offered in a distance-learning format.

The Photography Skills for Marketing and Outreach Certificate of Completion is a noncredit certificate designed to introduce basic digital photography technical skills and connect photography’s use in marketing and outreach. Technical skills include: digital single-lens reflex (DSLR), mirrorless camera, or compact camera system operation, exposure controls, elementary software image quality adjustment techniques, digital output, display, composition, and visual communication. These technical skills provide the foundation for using photography for self-promotion, nonprofit outreach, and/or marketing product or service displays. Students interested in entrepreneurship, nonprofit work, and/or building skills for current or new employment will gain in-demand photography and marketing skills to highlight on resumes across the job market. May be offered in a distance-learning format.

The Image Use in Professional Settings Certificate of Achievement is designed for students and professionals who would like to effectively use photographic images and video in business, non-profits, education, and professional settings for social media marketing, new media storytelling for design, and use of images in business or educational presentations. Career opportunities include social media marketing, advertising, blogging and vlogging, photo-editing and journalism. Image use is a multidisciplinary educational experience that emphasizes lecture courses along with opportunities for hands-on studio practice. This program will give students foundational knowledge in the use of images in various occupational settings as they join the workforce or as they acquire continuing education in their current profession.

The Historical and Alternative Photographic Processes Certificate of Achievement is designed for students who would like to pursue a specialization in historic and alternative photographic process photography for a career in fine arts, art education, portrait photography, or gallery and museum management.  Historical and Alternative Photography is a multidisciplinary educational experience, and our program emphasizes lecture courses along with hands-on studio experience in our photography lab. The primary areas of focus for this certificate will be the creation of art and commercial photographic imagery utilizing historical and alternative processes in photography.
