The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Certificate provides students the geospatial problem-solving skills and knowledge needed to either enter, or advance, in a variety of careers including urban planning, emergency services, resource extraction, environmental science, agriculture, business development. In the program, students work with ESRI ArcGIS software to develop their skills.

West Valley College offers students an opportunity to take all of the courses needed to obtain a Real Estate Salesperson License in California. The California Department of Real Estate (DRE) requires license applicants to take three real estate classes before taking the Real Estate Salesperson exam, which must be passed in order to obtain a renewable real estate Salesperson License. A Salesperson License is necessary in California for a person to be able to buy or sell real estate on another's behalf. Upon completion of the Non-Credit Certificate requirements, students will be eligible to take the Real Estate Salesperson exam. A student can take this exam once the student has demonstrated to the DRE that the student has completed the required coursework. Certificate holders will have a strong educational background that will help them succeed in passing the exam. Upon passage of this exam, the Certificate holder will be issued a California Real Estate Salesperson License. Examples of possible careers include: real estate sales, property management, mortgage lending industry, title insurance, escrow, real estate office administration, development. The Certificate satisfies the licensing requirements in Title 10 of the California Code of Regulations.

The Certificate of Achievement in Mathematics provides students with the mathematical background required to succeed in subsequent courses in mathematics, physics, computer science, and engineering. By earning this certificate, students have demonstrated that they possess the mathematical skills that are necessary to begin upper division coursework requiring more rigorous mathematical skills. Completion of the Certificate of Achievement in Mathematics represents a completion of applicable major units needed to obtain a degree in Mathematics.

The Interior Design Fundamentals Certificate provides a curriculum focused on the basic and essential aspects of interior design with an emphasis on practical application in the field at the entry level. The degree provides students the opportunity to combine knowledge and skills acquired to practice professionally as design assistants or to continue on to the Interior Design Professional Certificate for more advanced training. This fundamentals program prepares students for career opportunities in interior design firms, architectural firms, kitchen and bath design firms, retail finishes and furnishings stores, commercial furniture dealerships, and furniture and finish manufacturers at the entry level. Students completing this certificate will be able to demonstrate skills and apply knowledge necessary to achieve entry-level occupation in the professional interior design field.

The Clinical Assistant Certificate program is designed for those who are interested in working in a back office setting in a clinic or outpatient facility. Duties would include: obtaining and recording patient's height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure; obtaining health histories; performing basic lab tests; preparing/assisting with patient examinations; recording EKG and sterilizing surgical instruments. The program also includes instruction in medical law and ethics, interpersonal communication, patient care, appointment scheduling, telephone techniques, and electronic medical records management. Upon completion of all the required courses (34.5 units), students are assisted with the placement of an internship in a local healthcare facility. Background checks and drug testing are now required prior to entry. Possible career pathways include: Clinical Medical Assistant, EKG Technician, Emergency Department Technician, and Orthopedic Technician (if an additional internship in Orthopedics is completed.)

The Medical Assistant Certificate program prepares students to work in the front and back office of a physician's office, clinic or other out-patient facilities. Multiple skills and areas of theory are taught so that graduates are prepared to assume an important and valuable role as a team member in health care delivery. Upon completion of all required courses, students are assisted with the placement of an internship in a local health care facility. This is a valuable experience in applying the knowledge and skill acquired in class to the workplace. Required prior to entry into an internship: A Statement of Eligibility for internship, health statement and physical examination, current CPR certificate, keyboarding proficiency of at least 35 wpm, basic word processing skills, and completion of all required courses with a grade of C or better. Many facilities are requiring background checks and drug testing prior to entry (HTCH 54A is required.) Career Paths Include: ECG Technician, Insurance Billing and Coding Specialist, Insurance Account Representative, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Reception, and Medical Office Manager.

The Google Digital Marketing and E-commerce Certificate is designed to prepare beginning learners for entry-level jobs in digital marketing and e-commerce. The program was developed by Google and covers the fields of digital marketing and e-commerce, job responsibilities of entry-level digital marketing coordinator and e-commerce analyst, roles and functions within an organization, customer journey and function maps, marketing funnel, and elements of a digital marketing and e-commerce strategy. Students will be much more competitive if they already have a Bachelor's degree.
