The Production Welder Certificate of Achievement is for students that want to rapidly gain the skills needed to pursue entry level production employment. The ability to read and interpret technical drawings combined with OSHA safety knowledge provide the foundation. Welding theory is combined with two lab skills classes in welding process that are selected by the student.

Program Outcomes

- Upon completion of the certificate of achievement in production Welding students are able to operate safely in a welding workplace environment.

- Upon completion of the certificate of achievement for production welder student will have the skills necessary to pass an American Welding society standard welding certification test.

Students transferring to University of California or California State University have the opportunity to complete their lower division general education requirements at Las Positas College. This pattern of general education requires a minimum of 34 semester units to be completed. The Certificate of Achievement in University Transfer - IGETC will officially acknowledge a significant educational achievement the student has completed at Las Positas College. Counselor assistance is advised.

The Career Exploration and Preparation Certificate is designed for students seeking guidance in their career/major choices and for students seeking preparation for job application. The certificate provides coursework designed to introduce students to a variety of career/major exploration tools and job readiness resources available on and off-campus. An objective of the Career Exploration and Preparation Certificate is for students to create a plan and set goals for further exploration and career preparation.

- Demonstrate occupational research tools and help students gain skills to prepare them for job application.

- Assist students in creating a plan for their next steps to further their career exploration or job

Vocational ESL: Retail is a noncredit, short-term certificate of completion designed for high-beginning and intermediate ESL students seeking immediate employment. Students gain knowledge in occupation-specific application and intake processes, terminology and communication skills, as well as an understanding of company culture, such as benefits and promotion opportunities. Upon completion of the Vocational ESL: Retail program, students will be prepared for workforce entry and provided the opportunity to interview with LPC retail partners.

The School Matters Program will teach English Learners the listening and speaking, reading and writing, and vocabulary skills necessary to help support their child's learning in the K-12 school system. Classes will focus specifically on language skills for supporting your child's learning in the classroom and at home, and for interacting with your child's school administration and greater school community.

The ESL College Speaking and Listening Fluency Pathway provides a supportive and rigorous noncredit pathway for students to study and improve speaking and listening skills, including nonverbal communication and cultural norms. Students have the opportunity to take a sequence of two courses which will help in developing speaking and listening skills. Students who successfully complete the pathway will be better prepared to pursue language learning, as well as being better prepared to engage in English in their personal lives, at work, and in the community.

This Certificate of Competency in Communication and Writing in English provides students with an opportunity to practice and hone their reading, writing, and research skills in service to their other academic coursework, their current jobs, and their future careers. In compliance with California law, they should not take the courses that comprise the certificate in preparation for transfer-level English; instead, they might take the courses as concurrent support while taking transfer-level English, as opportunities to take their learning further after completing transfer-level English, or as general preparation to read, write, and effectively communicate in the workplace.

The Biotechnology Skills Certificate of Completion program is designed to equip students with the essential skills required for entry-level technician positions and to provide them with opportunities for career growth. Specifically tailored to the needs of the biotechnology industry, this program emphasizes the practical skills and knowledge necessary to work effectively in biotechnology labs. Successful completion of this program will enable students to develop a strong foundation in the techniques, protocols, and instrumentation used in biotechnology labs, giving them a competitive edge in the job market and preparing them for career advancement.

The Norcal Laborers Traffic Control Certificate of Achievement can provide the skills necessary for a student apprentice to qualify as a trained entry-level construction worker. Successful completion of the program results in students becoming journeymen. The Norcal Construction Technology is a 4-year apprenticeship program that trains employees using classroom instruction. Hands-on instruction is given through a paid apprenticeship. This program includes a work experience component.

The Norcal Laborers LiUNA Laborers' Construction Certificate of Achievement can provide the skills necessary for a student apprentice to qualify as a trained entry-level construction worker. Successful completion of the program results in students becoming journeymen. The Norcal LiUNA Laborers' Construction Technology is a 4-year apprenticeship program that trains employees using classroom instruction. Hands-on instruction is given through a paid apprenticeship. This program includes a work experience component.
