Associate in Science for Transfer in Business Administration 2.0

The study of business is a broad and diverse discipline that encompasses topics and tools needed for transfer to baccalaureate programs as well as for entering the world of professional business careers, whether domestic or global. Students who complete the Business Administration 2.0 receive priority admission to the California State University system, though admission to a specific campus is not guaranteed. While an associate degree may support attempts to gain entry-level employment or promotion, a baccalaureate or higher degree is recommended for those considering professional careers, pursuit of which can be achieved through transfer.


One of the main goals of the Business Administration 2.0 is to help students wishing to pursue a baccalaureate degree to transfer seamlessly to a CSU to major in Business Administration. Coursework necessary to transfer to a UC and many private universities is also included in the curriculum, and the courses selected by the student can be tailored with advice provided by an academic counselor to emphasize one of the various concentrations available.

Associate in Science Degree in Medical Assisting CCMA Eligible Program

The Medical Assisting program includes specific business and clinical courses that prepare students for employment as clinical and/or administrative assistants in medical offices, clinics, or in related medical and business fields. The coursework can be completed in two semesters, and includes on-the-job experience in a medical office or ambulatory care center.


Orange Coast College is accredited by the Accreditation Commission of Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Such accreditation permits graduates of this program to take the California Certified Medical Assistant examination (CCMA) immediately upon graduation. The California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants has been administering the CCMA exam since 1990. CCMA is one of three Boards that is recognized by the Medical Board of California. The medical assisting profession is highly diversified, and the work is challenging and personally rewarding. Employment opportunities are excellent in the expanding healthcare field.

Associate in Science Degree for Transfer in Mathematics

Orange Coast College

Students graduating with an Associate in Science in Mathematics for a Transfer Degree are well positioned to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in a similar major within the California State University system with 60 units of upper-division coursework. Students who complete the Mathematics AS-T degree are guaranteed admission to the CSU system, but not to a particular campus or major. Students must maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 in all CSU-transferable coursework. While a minimum 2.0 is required for CSU admission, some majors may require a higher GPA.
