The Professional Certificate in Personal Financial Planning prepares undergraduate business majors to become professional, competent and ethical personal financial planners. The Certificate in Postsecondary Literacy and Learning prepares reading specialists for postsecondary settings, particularly at the community college level. The certificate is offered in an online format only. Those wishing to earn the certificate must meet the requirements of Extension and International Programs and additional requirements posted on the department website.

The Photocommunications Certificate provides students the opportunity to learn aspects of both visual reporting and studio photography through a series of four courses: 9 units within the Communications major; and 3 units outside of the Communications major.

The Certificate in Geospatial Technologies is for undergraduate students interested in learning geospatial technologies and applying techniques of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing to represent spatial data and perform spatial analysis. Students completing the certificate will understand a variety of geospatial technologies, including GIS, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Web mapping, location-based services, remote sensing, and image processing and interpretation techniques. Students will be able to use up-to-date GIS tools and remote sensing technology to perform spatial analysis and mapping, and provide solutions to geographic problems.

All courses applied to the certificate must be passed with a “C” (2.0) or better.

The Forensic Anthropology Certificate program provides training and experience in forensic anthropology. Certificate recipients will have demonstrated knowledge and capabilities in identifying human bones and the forensic anthropological techniques used in aging, sexing and identifying specific anomalies due to disease and trauma in human remains.

A “B” or better is required in all courses.

The Digital Communications Media Certificate provides students with experience and insight into interactive digital media. Courses cover digital media design, creative content and technological development.

The Community College Studies program provides professional development for those with master’s degrees in education or a related field, or completing a master’s degree in a discipline that would lead to teaching in a community college setting. The certificate assists in preparing future community college teachers, administrators and leaders in understanding the role, mission and function of the community college and the students and communities served. Certificate recipients will be better equipped to negotiate the multiple missions and functions of the community college and the diversity of learners served.

The Communication Sciences and Disorders Multicultural Certificate is for graduate students who wish to specialize in multicultural clinical training. The program provides focused clinical practice with culturally/linguistically diverse clients/communities in students’ clinical practice and research in issues with culturally/linguistically diverse populations within the field of communication sciences and disorders.

The Certificate of Educational Technology Integration program focuses on theoretical and practical applications of student-centered uses of technology in the educational environment.
