This certificate is designed for students who intend to complete university general education requirements prior to transfer to a California State University (CSU) campus. Completion of the California State University General Education โ€“ Breadth (CSU GE-B) will permit a student to transfer from a Solano Community College to a CSU campus generally without the need, after transfer, to take additional lower-division, general education courses to satisfy campus general education requirements.


A Certificate of Achievement can be obtained by completing a minimum of 39-units from the California State University General Education Breadth (CSU GE) Pattern, CSU Graduation Requirement, and SCC Graduation Requirement. All courses for this certificate must be completed with a minimum grade of C or a P if taken on a Pass/No Pass basis. Consult with a counselor for more information on completing this certificate.

Certificate of Achievement in Nail Technology

The Nail Technology Program is approved by the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. The program consists of Cosm 131, an intensive training course and study designed to prepare and qualify students, by completing the required number of hours and operations, to sit for the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology examination for their manicurist license.  The one semester program focuses on the theoretical foundation, practical skills, health and safety, business knowledge and professional and ethical skills needed for success in the nail industry. Students are required to complete all technical, practical, and program requirements at Solano Community College. Upon completion of this program and passing the California State Board examination students will be eligible for career placement as a manicurist/nail technician and practice under the scope of Manicurist per state board rules and regulations.


The certificate of achievement can be obtained by completing the 17-unit major. All courses must be completed with a minimum grade of C or a P if the course is taken on a Pass/No Pass basis.


Requirements for sitting for the California State Board examination:

The Esthetics program is approved by the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. It is designed to prepare the student to take their exam for licensing with the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. This is subject to its rules and regulations regarding the education and training of estheticians. Units including theory and practical in phases of the skin care industry. Students are required to complete all technical, practical, and program requirements at Solano Community College. Upon completion of this program and passing the California State Board examination students may find career placement as a skin care specialist.
