Public Safety Reports, Evidence, and Testimony Certificate of Completion is a noncredit certificate designed to prepare the student to write professional investigative reports and introduces the legal and procedural fundamentals of evidence and testimony. Topics covered will include the rules and importance of narrative writing for investigative reports, investigative note taking, quality narrative drafting of investigative reports, authentication of evidence, chain of custody, exclusionary rule, expert testimony, and hearsay. Upon completion students will be more prepared for working with the public in roles in emergency response, health and safety, and community policing. May be offered in distance-learning format.
