The French program is a cultural resource to Sacramento State and the Sacramento community in general; it represents the French language, literature, and civilization of Europe and North America as well as other areas of the world where French is the common language.

The French program helps prepare its majors and minors for careers not only in teaching but in many other fields as well, such as business, journalism, and government service. To that end it offers courses that enable students to grow intellectually and to live and work successfully in areas where the French language is spoken.

The program reaches out to both the local and international communities. Students have the opportunity to study abroad as well as to tutor and teach in local schools. The French faculty pride themselves on being accessible to students and taking a keen interest in the students' individual achievements.

The Bachelor of Arts in French offers an exploration of the vast contribution that French language and culture have made to the world. The program gives courses in literature, culture, and language (there are also courses in translating and interpreting).

Note: A GPA of 2.75 is required in courses applied to the major.

This program prepares students for employment as a MECHANICAL or CIVIL ENGINEERING COMPUTER-AIDED DESIGN (CAD) DRAFTER, and has a strong focus on teaching industry-standard CAD software in the respective areas. Students select one of two options: (1) MECHANICAL, which focuses on 3D solid modeling CAD, or (2) CIVIL, which focuses on AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and REVIT.

If more units are needed to complete the associate's degree, it is suggested students also select from the following list: For mechanical drafting (Engr 114), for civil drafting (Engr 118, 119).

The California State University, Sacramento Department of Theatre and Dance fosters student-learning to advance critically-thinking, creative and collaborative artists. It provides a broad and thorough foundation of the history, theory, literature and the practice of theatre and dance to students who wish to pursue post graduate studies or join the profession. The Department of Theatre and Dance offers an imaginative and ambitious program of historical and contextual studies supported by studio and production work. Minimum Grade Requirement
A minimum grade of "C-" is required of courses applied to the major.

This program provides a basic program of engineering coursework for students planning to transfer to a university engineering program. Students are also advised to communicate with their desired university to determine the specific required coursework to transfer with upper division status at their school of choice.

Transfer students are also advised to take job skills courses to improve their employability. Examples include: ENGR 133, 114, 158 (for mechanical majors); 184, 118 (for civil majors); and 131, 133 (for electrical majors).

Students who maintain at least a 3.7 GPA in Philosophy may elect the Honors concentration. The Honors concentration must be combined with one or more of the non-honors concentrations: the General Major, the concentration in Ethics, Politics, and Law, or the concentration in Science, Reason, and Values. Upon admission to the Honors concentration, students will produce a course plan approved by the Department Honors Committee.

The associate degree curriculum in economics is a program of basic courses which enable students to move into a curriculum in a four-year institution leading to a baccalaureate degree. Economics prepares the student for a number of career opportunities such as accounting and marketing in the areas of business, government and teaching.

Learning Outcome(s):

✓ Students will communicate using basic economic terminology, interpret relevant economic data, and follow and construct fundamental economic arguments

✓ Students will define and explain the fundamental economic problem of scarcity and its consequences relating to opportunity cost and marginal decision-making of individuals, firms, and society

✓ Students will use the basic tools of economic modeling and graphing to evaluate the market system, to increase the efficiency of resource allocation, and to predict changes within the market and economy.

The Associate in Arts in Economics for Transfer (A.A.-T in Economics) prepares students to move into the CSU system leading to a baccalaureate degree in Economics. Please consult a counselor regarding specific course requirements for your transfer institution. Completion of the Associate in Arts in Economics for Transfer (A.A.-T in Economics) also provides guaranteed admission with junior status to the CSU system, although does not guarantee admission to a specific campus or major.

✓ Students who complete an AAT in Economics will: Utilize microeconomic or macroeconomic theory to analyze a specific
economic scenario. Utilize data to gain insight into a specific economic relationship. Utilize economic history and/or the history of economic ideas to inform a comprehensive understanding of a current economic perspective or event.

The Associate degree curriculum in Earth Science prepares students to transfer to a four-year institution leading to a baccalaureate degree in Earth Sciences or Geology. Please consult a SAC counselor for information about course requirements for particular four-year institutions. A baccalaureate degree in Earth Sciences may provide the recommended content preparation for students interested in teaching science at the middle school level or are planning to go to law school in the area of Environmental Law or Public Policy. Students may also gain necessary opportunities with Geotechnical or Environmental consulting firms or with government agencies such as the National Park Service.

The Fashion Merchandising Associate in Arts Degree is designed to prepare students for employment in the ready-to-wear industry, department stores, specialty shops, and wholesale fashion showrooms. This degree requires a total of 22-23 units, of which 19 units are in required courses. An additional 3-4 units must be chosen from the restricted electives listed below.
