The Associate in Science in Computer Science for Transfer (AS-T) degree will prepare students with the foundation necessary for continuing their studies at the university level in Computer Science and related subjects. Like mathematics, engineering, and the natural sciences on which it depends, Computer Science has become an important academic discipline.  Students who complete the AS-T in Computer Science will be prepared to pursue baccalaureate degrees in areas such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Cybersecurity. Career paths could include Computer Programmers, Software Engineers, Database Administrators, Data Scientists, Cybersecurity Analysts, and Educators.

 

The Associate in Science in Computer Science for Transfer (AS-T) degree is intended for students who plan to complete a baccalaureate degree in Computer Science or a related field of study at a California State University. Students who complete this degree are guaranteed admission to the CSU system, but not to a particular campus or major. Students transferring to a CSU campus that accepts the Associate in Science in Computer Science for Transfer will be required to complete no more than 60-semester units after transfer to earn a baccalaureate degree.

 

To be awarded the Associate Degree for Transfer, students must have the following:

- Completion of 60 CSU transferable semester units.

- A minimum of at least 2.0 GPA in CSU transferable courses (note that a higher GPA may be required in some institutions).

- Completion of at least 18 units in the major with a grade of “C” or better. A “P” (Pass) grade is also an acceptable grade for courses in the major if the course is taken on a Pass/No Pass basis.

- Certified completion of the CSU General Education-Breadth (CSU GE-Breadth) requirements, or completion of the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) for CSU requirements.

Drafters and designers prepare technical drawings, designs, diagrams and specifications for a wide variety of commercial, industrial, and government projects.  Computer hardware design, aerospace drafting and design, architectural design and drafting, electronics design, technical illustration and the design and drafting of such items as: disk drive mechanisms, cellular telephones, and medical equipment; are just a few of the areas of employment available for drafters and designers in our local area. Specializing in state-of-the-art CADD instruction, featuring AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3-D, ACAD Mechanical, SolidWorks and Creo CAD tools, the CADD department at Evergreen Valley College offers a wide variety of coursework designed for individuals wanting to upgrade and expand their existing technical skills and for new students wanting to prepare for employment in numerous CADD related fields. The CADD Technology department also offers certificate options and an Associate in Science Degree option. A ‘C’ grade or better is required in each CADD course and all major prerequisite courses for graduation and/or certificate options.

Certificate of Achievement in Foundational Chemistry

The chemistry certificate program grants students a certificate acknowledgment that they have successfully completed a set of required general chemistry and organic chemistry courses with labs.  It is designed to provide potential employers with proof that the students have the core competency to begin work in chemistry at the entry-level.  In addition to the lecture component where knowledge in chemistry will be mastered, all courses include labs that would provide students with the hands-on skills and experience gained from doing experiments involving different techniques.  Completion of the certificate program requires that the student successfully complete CHEM 012A and CHEM 012B at Evergreen Valley College. A grade of "C" or better in each course is required to receive the certificate of achievement.
